Ok, continuing my small series of photos from the snow we had last week.
Like mentioned before I was taking some daily walks in the forest just to enjoy the beauty of a landscape drenched in snow.
As I was walking along I came up to this little odd structure.
I imagined: "Hey this must be a pretty strange view for someone that has never been here before..."
Well needless to say I took the shot.

The building is in fact just a part of the directional beacon and radio transmittion system at Stavanger Airport, Sola.
What exactly this structure is doing is unknown to me, but it might have something to do with the high amount of offshore helicopter traffic we have from the airport.

I had to do a little PP, the quality of the photo was different from the actual view. I used the colour range tool in PS, and selected enough to give the sky the correct tones when changing the levels. After that I had to increase the overall levels to give the foreground the correct bright impression.

I hope you like it.

Nice image OJ. I like the way the wire leads onto the main motive. This gives it some prominence in the pic which it would have lacked oterwise. The pines on the left serve as a nice framing and the snow is well exposed. I like in particular the subtle pastel color from the sun which illuminates part of the trail. Nice work.

Cheers,
Mikkel

Interesting study, Odd Jarle, I like the leading wire from the top right. It leads my eye into the scene and the other details. The scene looks very much like what I might find here in Massachusetts during a snowy winter, but not much snow here this year. Nice work.
Mike

Hi Odd Jarle,

Nice to see a photo of yours again, very fine exposure here. Glad you took the photo..about the building..it's seems pretty ordinary to me..not too special..but it's certainly a nice feature in the scene, due to it's colour it's pretty present in the scene! Nice!
Well what else is there to say, lovely compo with on the left a nice natural frame..fine sky with some lovely clouds. A gentle image with proper sharpness.
Bravo!

ps. Hmm why not include the digital info in TE itself..instead of copying it to the notes? :)

Hello Odd Jarle
Très belle réalisation, de très belles couleurs.
Tu me donnes envie de visiter la Norvège en hiver.
très beau travail

Hei OJ.
The picture is crisp and nice, but I suddenly
felt an urge to look back the way you came from. I have a feeling there might be something there or maybe not?

Hello Odd,

Superb composition and exposure. The light, sharpnes and colors are all excellent. If only those power lines were not visible, but then we would not have electricity! Well done,
Bulent

Yes, the light coming into the snow covered pathway is most appealing. The other element I find engaging is the color at the focal point. The sky and radio transmission building offer just the right amount of color with all 'lines' leading to them.

Hello Odd Jarle,
a good winter view well composed and over all with excellent light, the atmosphere is really cold and fascinating, interesting note too, compliments.
Ciao
Vinicio

Hei Oddi,

I like the building, half hidden in snow and shruberry. I allso like the clear colors and the cold feeling to the photo. TFS.

Hi Odd,

there seems to have been a lot of activity around this very small hut judging by the footprints (perhaps I should have been a detective or maybe I was one in a previous life, who knows!?) Lovely composition with the small track edged by the trees leading the eye to the hut and a good pov. Well done.

Regards

Stephen

Hi Odd Jarle,
I don't quite understand what is so strange, but I see a nice snowy perspectile leading to the small house where it will hopefully be warm inside, january in Norway probably does not provide so much light, so it's good you had this snow lying to contribute to some brightness in addition to your PP.
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Hey Odd,
Very good POV, I like the composition.
Sky seems beautiful. You made a nice fram with trees :)
Well done.
TFS
Regards
Aycin.

Hello Odd Jarle,
very nice winters photo!
