Lone tree in the morning mist, a photo from Ostfold, South

Photographer's Note

I was under way to do some service to my car this cold October morning (0 C) when i passed the river Glomma who runs only 1 km from where I live. I just had to stop for this little idyllic scene by the river.

Glomma is the longest and largest river in Norway, 598 kilometers long. It collects water from fully 13% of Norway's area.

Postwork include some adjustments of light and saturation. Hope you like it

Nice shot Jack;

I love the contrast of the golden leafed tree against the foggy background. Like something from a mythilogical fairy tale- it has an intriguing feel to it.
My only suggestion would be to make the horizon level, as it seems to be a bit tilted.

Hi Jack, I think it would have been wise to keep this place a secret, as now everybody will be after the gold in the tree! :-). Wow, an absolute magnificent capture of colour and light. That tree looks so precious and of such rare beauty. The contrast with the fog above the river is very mysterious. The framing is excellent but it's mainly the mood you convey that leaves me breathless! Absolutely gorgeous! Sabine

Great composition! The lone, colourful tree on the left stands out against the darker forest and river. The light is just right, with the light on the yellow tree and the river sill moody and misty. Well done!

Jack I decided to venture out a little and dame up on this fine presentation. This is a magical scene welll deserving of all the comments it receives. I know its because of the contrast between the background and the single litup tree taht makes this a wonderful scene. The lighting is glorously done! A fantastic photo. This is a wonderful shot, no doubt about it. Nice composition and nice framing. I know most of the people who have gicen a comment on this picture probably will disagree with me when I say that I think the golden tree is a bit TOO golden in my opinion. I think it's too much, but that's just one man's opinion. Maybe the color on the tree actually was like that when you took it but I still think it's too much. But as I said, a really nice picture. Well captured.

Superb landscape, Jack. Excellent composition with the verticals anchored in the obliques, which are restrained by the horizontals. The contrast between the golden area on the left corner and the dark area on the right where already some gold is creeping suggests the struggle which takes place in nature at this time of the year. The fog brings life to the scene. The mist adds the perfect mood to this autumn magic.

My list of favourites is getting longer.

Definitely piece of art - looks like a painting. Your collection on TE is a gold mine to me, but this one really stands out. Golden glow of a tree, sense of depth due to mist and nice framing composition. After all journeys, jewels may be discovered 1 km from home, it appears. It is surprising to find I have not commented on this one, it is an image I have seen many times and I was pretty sure I've been here before...
The atmosphere is so well captured, and the light makes the little yellow birch really play the lead role!

This is pure poetry in colors. The golden tree like an aetheric sculpture, the water mirror and than that misty background and the touch of detail here and there, this is not a picture this is more than that.
Nature is wonderful in such and every moment but is wonderful to have seen it and to show it.

Hello Jack,

I had long admired this gem "hanging" in your gallery; accordingly, I was surprised to find that i had not critiqued it in the past. It is almost the second anniversary of both shooting and posting the image, and I join the chorus of admirers. The golden colors of autumn stand in stark contrast to the misty waters of Glomma River in the background. It displays an idyllic setting, composed and exposed flawlessly.
