The Oslo Opera House (in Norwegian, Operahuset) is the seat of The Norwegian National Opera and Ballett, and the national opera theatre in Norway. The building lies in Bjørvika, in the center of Oslo, at the head of the Oslofjord. Its builder is Statsbygg, a government-run property owner, and architects were Norwegian architects Snøhetta, winning an international architecture competition. The acoustic designers are BrekkeStrandArup, a joint venture between local consultant Brekke Strand Akustikk and international acousticians Arup Acoustics. Norwegian construction company Veidekke was awarded one of the largest building contracts of the project. The future user of the building will be the Norwegian National Opera.

The structure provides a total area of 38,500 m² spanning 1,100 rooms, one of which has 1,350 seats and one with up to 400 seats.

The Opera House was finished in 2007 with the opening event held on Saturday April 12, 2008. Total expenditures for the building project were planned at 4.4 billion NOK, but finished ahead of schedule, and 300 million NOK under budget.

You can also read about this spectacular building here.

In the WS you can see a view from the roof.

Hej Gunnar,
You found a fine point of view and the spring light is great!
I like the dynamics of the composition at this angle, and excellent colours & details in the architecture...
Maybe I'd try to include the sea in some way since that is an important part of the design, but I haven't been there yet so I can't really say!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hej Gunnar.
Många vinklar blir det...
Very fine photo of this brand new opera house. What a project! Lots of angles, squares and other formations. The photo is taken from a good point of view. Beautiful colours and I really like the reflections in the glass walls.
Interesting note, as always.

Hej Gunnar,

a sunny day near your country. Just to forget a little Goteborg. Worth thematic photo. A piece for my collection (theatre). Many thanks and come back in Goteborg. Your public here ask it. Best regards and many sunny days,

Branko

Hej Gunnar,
A spectacular building providing many opportunities for a photographer. Somehow the weather seems to have been almost too good on this day. It must have been almost inevitable that the ground (floor?) is a bit overexposed and that the blue and white brightness almost hurts my eyes. Not your fault though.
Gert
