These cannons are defending Oslo from the Akershus Fortress. But they seem to be aimed at the famous Aker Brygge across the water here.

At Aker Brygge you can find many restaurants along the waterfront. To the right you can see a building, with two towers, that used to be a railway station for westbound traffic. Today this building holds the Nobel Peace Center.

Right above from here is a church that is being renovated. I believe it is the Uranienborg Church, and just to the right of the green spire you can see the remaining parts of Holmenkollen Ski Jump, the oldest ski jump in the world, from 1892.

This used to be a landmark you could see from far away. It was demolished autumn 2008 to be replaced by a new construction. This will be ready for the World Championships in 2011.
