Photographer’s Note

Hi dear TE friends,

my second post from Norway is about Geiranger Fjord,
I've taken it during a 2 hours long ferry cruise, the falls that you can see on the right is called "7 sisters" ...so the title...

hope you like it.

About the place:
Geiranger is a small tourist town in the western part of Norway in the region called Sunnmøre in the municipality of Stranda. It lies at the head of the Geirangerfjord, which is a branch of the Storfjord. The nearest city is Ålesund. Geiranger is home to some of the most spectacular scenery in the world, and has been named the best travel destination in Scandinavia by Lonely Planet. Since 2005, the Geirangerfjord has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Siamo vicini oggi, e stavo per postare una foto proprio di questo luogo, ma poi ho cambiato idea.
Il luogio e' fantastico, e la foto rende perfettamente l'imponenza e la suggestione di questo fiordo.
Seguiro' la tua serie norvegese. Vedo che sei tornato da poco. Anche io ero stato in giugno-luglio, l'anno scorso.

Hello Fabio,
Beautiful composition with the fjord having less light to adding a lot to the atmosphere.The ferry cruise is a nice point to the frame and gives much more interesting.Excellent work!

The falls are great and i like the calm atmosphere. The wawes and the dancing lights made it more unique - you captured it nicely!

Fabio,

This photo is great. I like Norway/the fjords very much... sadly I only got into photography after my last trip there. I need to go back so I to can capture wonderful images like this.

I like the composition with the cliff, penetrating the final third on the right hand side with the movement of the water captured in the waterfall, contrasted to the curves of the ripples on the fjord fro the little boat disappearing into the distance.

Seems as if I am watching a movie. Superb Composition. The mysty atmoshpere in the background adds dimesnions to your shot.

Wow Fabio,
what a great image. The place is obviously spectacular. Love all these nuances of blue, and the water falling down the rocks is just awesome...it relaxes me and thrills me at the same time!
its not with the magnificent D50, but its still excellent ;))

Hi Fabio,
Another stunning shot from Norway. You have a great eye my friend, because you post in slow pass, but when you post it's well thought and absolute not just a simple snapshot. Strong lines in the water, the boat, the waterfall on the right, it all fits perfectly....like it a lot.

Ciao Fabio, scommetto che ti emozioni anche te a rivedere queste foto vero...
Davvero interessante come hai gestito questa non facile situazione di luce ... (so già che a me sarebbe venuta fuori sovraesposta) la composizione con la prospettiva data dalla scia dell'imbarcazione, e il primo piano sulla cascata sono da mauale di fotografia...

Beautiful shot Fabio, so well composed when possibilities must have been limited from on a boat. I love how the wake of the boat in front acts as leaad-in and the patch of light on the green of the mountain on the right. Those 7 sisters on the right are almost secondary. good work

una foto molto "liquida", rendi proprio l'idea di tanta acqua dappertutto.
Bellissima immagine! E buon POV. Tante sfumature dei colori dell'acqua.
Non ricordo foto più belle di questa fatte in questo celebre fiordo. Io stessa ricordo il mio imbarazzo per non saper rendere la bellezza del sito complessivamente, mentre questo dettaglio esprime già tutto.

An elegant composition with this view of the dramatic nature!
The simplicity of composition attracts attention to the scenery and I notice the boat ahead making a curve on the fjord...

excellent photo, Fabio, I like a lot the cool colours, I find they convey very well the mood of Nordic countries. the gently curved line of the water is just in the right place in the frame to link the waterfalls and the movement of the boat. very, very nice, my compliments.

Ogni tanto ci fai un regalo. L'acqua del fiordo, appena animata dalla corrente che vi si insinua, è segnata dalla scia del traghetto. Il controluce perfettamente controllato e la prospettiva che esalta i rilievi precipiti esaltano la maestà di questo scenario nordico.

Bonsoir,
belle photo de ce fjord superbe, encaissé entre ces paroits hautes et impressionnantes.
Jolies couleurs et bonne netteté de cet endroit avec ces chutes sur la droite.
Ce bateau qui s' éloigne donne une idée de la hauteur des montagnes de ce fjord.

Probably because of the feeling of movement you captured- a sense that we are following the boat in its wake.AND there is suspense- what is waiting around the bend! So blue, so mysterious, so amazing! That slice of green stands out & yes the falls on the right. Love the ripples on the water & the tiny ship which also helps in scale. Quite stunning!

Brilliant, classy shot. I love your approach here; putting the falls right off to the far right of frame - it says, these falls are big, maybe even huge, but look, compared to the environment they are in!! This is also true for the boat.
In short, very well composed shot.
