Photographer’s Note
Next ship to be seen in Bergen fjord was Astrid, a brig now Dutch and prviatly owned, but previously a British sailing ship belonging to the Astrid trust. I sailed with here in 1993, so it was a very nice encounter.
Three view here chosen in a serie of five, under different angles because Astrid was faster than us:
- approaching from behind (main post),
- alongside (workshop 1)
- and leaving us (workshop 2).
But we will meet her latter in the fjord (and with a much better light: about 2 hours latter).
PS Elements 6.0
Since my 1993 travelogue on that ship is yet to come, I will posted some information about the ship not found on Wikipedia this time, but on a site I discovered tonight (www.redsky-sailing.com)
The Astrid is best known in the UK from her days as a sail training ship in the 1980’s but since then she has been completely refurbished for corproate events by her current owners. Astrid will be in the UK from 11 to 17 May and 4 to 6 July 2008.
Built in 1918, this beautiful square-rigged ship offers great sailing with a modern, luxurious interior. Astrid offers space for up to 60 passengers on day sails and cabins for 24 people on longer voyages. There is a well-furnished lounge and bar area, navigation room, six toilets and six showers.
Astrid is particularly well suited to Team Building and Management Training events on the water when the two deckhouses can be used for breakout space when carrying out assignments.

SAlut Emmanuel,
Belle prise, la photo est bien équilibrée avec la position du bateau, les proportion de mer - terre - ciel.
Grande netteté et clarté qui permettent de bien mettre en valeurs le bateau et sa voilure.
Beau travail.
Bon WE.

Hallo Emmanuel!
Truly a wonderful sight - this ship under canvas with a bow wave. This vivid sky adds a lot to the picture here. A fascinating photo, especially for a landlubber ... ;-)
Greetings from cold Germany - and have a nice Sunday!

Bonjour Emmanuel,
Une excellente composition dont l'équilibre valorise vraiment ce majestueux voilier. Le cadrage est au top et les élements naturels (ciel, mer, rives) très bien captés. Du beau travail photo.
Amicalement,
Roger

Hello Emmanuel,
another very beautiful view of the tall ship! I like it very much. IMHO, it's an excellent POV which shows the ship practically at its best!
kind regards,
Elena
