Ludvig Holberg (1684 - 1754), dano-norwegian writer and playwright. He was an outstanding example of European culture in the 18th century. He was the most brilliant son born during the four centuries when Denmark and Norway constituted a twin kingdom, from 1387 to 1814.
During his life, he travelled through Europe ( Germany, Italy, France, England...). He got a large influence from the french " Siècle des Lumières ".
This statue is located in Bergen historical center , facing to the famous Fish market ( Fisketorget ). |
