Photographer's Note

This picture shows the central part of the island Fedje. The island is located northwest of Bergen, about 70 km by car. Fedje is Norway`s westernmost municipality. At the island we`re actually closer to the Shetland Islands than Norway`s capital Oslo. The 7,8 squarekilometers municipality Fedje consists of 125 islands. Only the main island is populated. The name of the municipality means fence against the ocean, and when it comes to weather, it can of course be quite exposed with the great ocean so close. The population has decreased since the top about 1950 with 950 persons. Today the population on the island counts about 590 persons.
