Postcard from Bryggen, a photo from Hordaland, South

Photographer's Note

This Sunday we got a long-awaited day of nice weather. The low sun enhances the colours of the row of old houses. The church which is wrapped in plastic in the background is St. Mary's Church from the 12th century that is now beeing restored. The picture might be a bit postcard-like, but it was indeed a pleasure to enjoy this view in this kind of weather.

Hello Erling,
this kind of architecture really appeals to me.The buildings with these beautiful warm colors and characteristic pointed rooftops look great.Apart from that,you´ve composed the image perfectly,just how I like it,with well-considered angle using the river bank as diagonal line through the composition.And these reflections in the water bring kind of tranquil atmosphere to this scene.

its funny how we almost apologize for posting these postcard style scenes.
to be honest, i love them! I could be happy shooting these scenes everyday!
I like the progression, and how the homes are not 100% linear and straight, some up, some down.

Hello Erling,
The setting sun has given very warm reddish tones at the facades and the roofs of this row houses along the quay. It makes them contrast strongly with the blue water and with the sky. The reflections look wonderful and I like the alternation of the white, pink and red facades.
