Walking down town Bergen sunday, I passed by the old church Korskirken (kors=cross/kirken=church). On the bumpy road of Nedre Korskirkeallmenningen I saw this little puddle with wonderful reflections of the old church. The church was built in the late 12th century. The first time the church was mentioned in written sources was in the saga of king Sverre in 1181.

Amazing combination of stones and very clear reflection.

a fantastic reflection, very nice quality job here, good composition, fine details, super job, have a good evening.
rford (30) 2009-11-16 9:38
I would prefer if the image was not flipped around, and the reflections more transparent so I could see through to the stones below... I love the idea of capturing reflections which work on many planes. Reflections are all around us and a major part of our visual world, yet the most important ones are small and fleeting. They speak of the continuum, the continuous experience of our world.
PS also think the category is more like daily life than architecture.
francesav (749) 2009-11-16 9:48
nice reflection shot. At first sight I couldn't understand what was reflected, if the church or the stones!
Really nice shot.
pasternak (15181) 2009-11-16 9:53
Well seen this puddle reflection, the execution is lovely as well...
buscape (6219) 2009-11-16 9:54
fine reflection after the rain. I especially like your framing and the good sharpness. It is also a good effect, that the reflections are partly transparent. I like it.

Reflections are often around us but one should pay attention to the beautiful things in everyday life.
Best regards, Paul

Splendide composition !!! C'est très original et bien pensé, il y a une excellente netteté, et cette flaque d'eau restitue à merveille le paysage environnant. Très réussi, un grand bravo à toi !

Dette er helt utrolig bra.
Skarpt, flotte farger og nydelig speiling.
Skikkelig bra presentasjon.
magalik (6103) 2009-11-16 12:11
Sincerly beautiful ! Very good idea.
Great quality and composition.
The rain made these paving stones very luisants and really beautiful.
Moreover, you succeeded to catch fine colors with these leaves.
However, I have prefer your photo right side out.
Very well done Erling. Congratulations.
Have a good evening.
Herquin (7751) 2009-11-16 12:11
good idea for a wonderful effect !
Jeppo (17645) 2009-11-16 13:07
I like this shot,....that puddle looks like a scar in the paved way.
I love this shot....maybe because I have plenty of reflections shot in my own gallery
mozzy27 (2) 2009-11-16 14:13
Wonderful reflection in the puddle on the pavement, at first I thought you had superimpossed the old church onto the photo of the pavement but then realised what it really was. Good sharpness and an awesome capture. good spot, well done, TFS
claudio74 (7263) 2009-11-16 21:23
Amazing picture, it seems to be unreal, very weel done because the sharpness is perfect.
Juzo (4363) 2009-11-17 3:31
This is simply stunning! Well-spotted and beautifully captured. The reflection is stunning, it is beautifully framed in the cobblestones and creates a real feeling for the scene. This is simply brilliant and I am adding this to my favourites! Well done.
hardyuno (4650) 2009-11-17 3:44

You had a good eye to see this and managed a great shot.I like how this old churchtower is framed by the cobblestones.
KateinDenmark (1634) 2009-11-18 10:06
This is a wonderful photo. Very impressive. Here I've been stepping over mud puddles and instead I should have been looking for churches in them. Quite seriously, this is just a great composition.
dta (70981) 2009-11-19 10:17
Hello ERling ,
The effect is really superb . The reflection of this fine church tower with the frame of the beautiful paved road . It looks like in a dream .
An excellent capture
batalay (36757) 2009-11-19 21:12
I like the remarkable atmosphere you've captured in this shot. I would, however, suggest keeping the spire upside down, the way the eye (and the camera) see it. Recently, the National Geographic published my new book about Leonardo, and in two instances they have photographs evocative of yours, towers reflected in puddles of water, but they've kept it with the upside down view. In any event, it is superb sight, and a very good note.
Leconte (5795) 2009-11-20 2:22
très belle composition, beau travail de technique.

Hi Erling, a very artistic piece of photography, it seems to be out of a dream! I like the partial reflection and the clarity of the surrounding pavement. Excellent job, congratulations, Lisa

Très beau reflet..la luminosité est excellente et le détail aussi..bravo..Stéphane + 2
Longroute (19396) 2009-11-21 0:44
What a composition! This reflection is just a jewel found on your way and you framed it in a masterful and wonderful way.
The church and the trees are fine enough and compose a really charming image but I think that the textures and pattern of the stones enhance its beauty.
JorgeCK (2620) 2009-11-21 14:58
Hola amigo Erling.
Superb shot. I got the same impression that "wisat", I thought it was a digital editing work too.
great eye and excellent composition.

Hello Erling. Reflections are always something special. Things are turned upside down and appear completely new. Your beautiful photo I like very well. The photo is implemented technically excellent - and very sharp. Well done and worth seeing. Best regards, Wolfgang.
neetslip (194) 2009-11-28 10:17
hello erling. wonderful composure. the cobblestone road is a good backdrop for this. thks, phil
bebbetto (36) 2009-11-28 12:29
magnificent photos Erling.
It seems an artificial composition.
But you could leave it in the right position instead of turning of 180 degrees

Amazing photo, well seen, and well executed. Very impressive and great details.

Molto ben riuscito questo riflesso! Mi piace la resa ed il colore della pietra che incornicia il riflesso nella piccola pozzanghera! Anche io amo questo genere di foto!

Very well done.

Aviller (3866) 2010-01-04 6:00
Wonderful reflection. Whenever it has rained, I look for these kinds of angles as well. Sharpness is perfect and the dotted leaves add a special and colorful touch to the picture as well.
CLODO (31715) 2010-01-04 11:39
Good POV, sharpness on all your shot and a good idea to publish it upside down, it's more intriguing!
tmsfan (80) 2010-02-06 19:15
Amazing photo... The puddle presents a perfect mirror of the church.
elkab (4951) 2010-02-07 2:19
Great shot. I like idea and perfect result (fanatastic composition and reflcetion, great light, shaprness and tone of the photo). Very well done!

Hi Erling, I like reflections as often it gives an extra texture.. This is so unique it could have been photoshopped.. Lookimng closely it obvbiously is not.. well captured and well presented. You must be very pleased Have a great Friday Ricx

Wonderful and clever reflection. The colours and the quality are great. Congratulations!
gmg (4202) 2010-05-26 8:26
Very nice reflection, where the centrale subject is surrounded by another beautiful theme: the cobblestones and the fallen leaves. Very well done.
iainsp (2626) 2010-08-18 8:47
Now that is fantastic.
You have probably caught us all out, looking at the thumbnail and thinking you had seriously photoshopped it. A great eye and a great capture - on what looks like not really the best weather for photography.
veryt well done,
mattharvey1 (1040) 2010-09-13 12:03
Having been through your gallery a couple of times I keep coming back to this one. I normally try and leave a comment on ones that haven't received so much attention but this shot is quite compelling. It's only when I turned my head upside down that I could work it out !
romanaa (7982) 2010-10-24 3:54
you have found a great one. The brown leaves on the cobbled street match the colour of the spire perfectly.
It has some sadness of the autumn in the atmosphere.
francio64 (39675) 2011-10-12 11:50
davvero spettacolare questo riflesso sulla pozzanghera d'acqua, reso ancora più intrigante dalla rotazione di 180° della foto.
Molto bravo! TFS!
josepmarin (57885) 2011-10-20 3:38
the rotation in 180º of the image of the belfry and the tree reflected in a puddle, is a great idea, and you have obtained a great graphical result because of its combination with the textures of the cobbles.
The light, the colors and the sharpness of the image complete an excellent work, which has a strong aesthetic effect due to its appearance of painting.
tkfun45 (113) 2012-02-06 19:07
New to TE, I have enjoyed reviewing the work of other photographers and the critiques. I really love shooting reflections also. This photo is striking and has received a lot of critiques. Some of the critiques were critical of your decision to flip the photo. I happen to agree with Josep. Doing so caught my attention immediately. Without it, the photo is just another very nice shot of a reflection. As is, I am drawn into the photo by the initial mystery of the image. Very creative! I have learned from your shot to look for similar opportunities. Thanks!
westcoastgirl1 (666) 2012-08-26 19:10
This is my favourite type of photo to try to capture at the moment so I had to comment. First, you have done well to discover this reflection. Second, you have managed to get the most important/interesting part of the church and even some trees. Third, I like that you kept the shot tight but included some cobblestones too. Well-done!
Thanks for sharing this,
omid266 (6700) 2015-01-17 19:56

this reflection is perfectly nice and spectacular,
excellent job and Thanks!
Kind Regards, ***
Noel_Byrne (27006) 2015-05-10 9:37
There is something almost dreamlike about this photo, it's a brilliant idea to have the church the right way up, as it makes the surrounding ground around it seem slightly surreal, especially with the surprising amount of color in the water in the upper right. This is a really unique and very cool photo.
