Photographer’s Note
With our sledges, each with 6 huskies, we cross the hills and forests around Drevsjö.
Drevsjö lies at 650 meters over sea level and the lakes and forests are home of many beavers.
A little story about huskies:
I was the first time on such a tour and our guide explained us how to handle the sledge, what to do in case of a overturn and many other things. Everything was fine during the first hour when driving over a frozen lake and the flat landscape. We enjoy the trip and the sun while standing on a plank at the end of the sledge. Easy job I thought. The first hill ... and after some hundred meter the sledge stopped. The huskies lied down and relax ... and stopped any work. The tour guide with his sledge was not longer seen between the trees - I see only snow and an empty landscape. I ask Fiffy, the leader of the Husky gang, what's going on. I ask the others, Marja, Freia, Rustek, Mario, Freddy - no reaction, they continue relaxing in the snow.
After a while the tour guide came back and was laughing. An easy rule: If you do nothing they also do nothing. You had to assist with the foot pushing the sledge when going up the hill.

Hello Achim,
A beautiful winter's scene. I like the off-centre placing of the dogs and sledges with the trail curving to the left as it enters the trees. The light is very good and there are some interesting shadows to be had. Very good colours and clarity, perfect exposure of the white mass of snow.

Hallo Achim! Guesse, schoener Montag, Barbara.

hello Achim
what a purity in this picture!I like the effect on the snow ,with its colours going from the white to a soft blue! The contrast with the sharp and dark trees is superb! The scene is very well framed with the curved line of dogs and men a little bit decentered!

Hello Achim,
I like this composition, as it is telling the story well in a simple and attractive way!
The snow in sunshine is well exposed, and the sharp fine pine trees contrast well with sky...
The red dress offer some colour contrast in the winter landscape!

hello Achim,
thanks for the note, I had to laugh :) and thanks for the photo, it goes to my "places to go" theme, I've always wanted to try the sledge.
superb light management, I imagine the snow with reflected light was blinding white, but you have kept it from getting overexposed but with enough detail. I like a lot the undisturbet white expanse in the foreground, and how the curve of the path leads the eye into the photo. excellent work, my compliments.
regards,
Kristine

Hi Achim,
Interesting composition to show the traditional transportation, just like what I saw in Christmas card, nice winter view, distinct color to show pure white world and sunny sky, well done.

Achim bonjour.

Hallo Achim,
The scanned one of the photo is perfect, the image preserves a great quality.
I like the subjective scene in this capture from the sledge, and to see these magnificent dogs at work.
The caravan with the red mushers has a nice contrast on this covered with snow landscape.
Nice work, my friend.
Best regards,
Josep

Hi Achim,
The curve line made by the sledges is an asset to the composition. The presence of the people, of the dogs and of the sledges has an effect of scale. The point of view takes our eyes toward the trees in the background which is giving depth to the photo. The reflection of the light on the snow brings out the colors of the scenery. Have a nice day.

Hallo Achim,
Laszlo
