Photographer’s Note
The waiting time is almost over.
This picture is taken at Nelaug train station just north of Arendal, Norway.
I was still in my military service, so this was still just another long way back to the base.
I had just been at a good friends "batchlor" party, he was getting married a month later, and I had been waiting for the train for some 4 hours so the sight of the train rounding a big rocky feature and arriving at the station was a really releaving one.
I had to do a little fixing in photoshop with this one, brightness and contrast has been slightly increased.
The photo may seem a little grainy, the reason for this I'm not sure of, but it may have something to to with the developing. I had 4 films developed at a local Kodak store in Oslo, and they all turned out this grainy.

Hei O.J.

Hi Odd, I can imagine that you were glad that the train came ;-)
I love trainrides (if you look at my travelogues, you will find one in 2004, 11000 kilometers by train, I loved it)
Nice light on the train and including that little bit of rails in the foreground was a good choice.
I think the grain is not that bad, considering that you also had to scan the image.

Hei Odd Jarle,
The lighting on the train is an attention magnet here!
A nicely composed image with good foreground interest, good lines and pleasant colours telling about autumn...
For some reason I don't feel quite comfortable with the upper part of the image... I think it is a combination of the cables and the blown-out sky, why not try to crop both?

Pablo -

You captured this view in a beautiful low light, I think nearly parallel to the train: this is the reason why the pic is so attractive. A pity for the quality of grain!
