Photographer’s Note

Storestraumen, yet another photo from my stop at this place.
Like mentioned in my other photo I just happened to make a stop whne it turned out they were opening some new water gates at this place.
I was sitting at the same embankment like earlier only this is from when they had just come through the gate.

They told me that the water gates here were installed the evening before, they had a weight of some 5 tonnes each. Not making it easier, the closest position for a crane to be placed when lowering them in place was some 20 meters away. This resulted with them bringing in a crane that weighed some 32 tonnes!

I used a monopod when I took this photo, ran the photo through photoshop with auto levels and auto contrast to bring out more colour.

It is a pity that you didn't capture the whole reflection.

Nice scene, I like the detail and composition. I think the sky is a bit bright, but other than that this is a very nice image. TFS.

Hi Odd Jarle. What a wonderful old boat, obviously being enjoyed by many people. Looks like you have had some lovely fine weather also. Excellent composition and great reflection of the water. Thanks for sharing.

Nice shot, but a little over-exposed in the top left corner. Maybe a faster speed and smaller aperture (higher f number) could have worked better (IMHO).

But the scene is great and evocative... makes me wish to be there.

i have been to norway and i can imagine how beautiful it is to make a river cruise ! a lovely picture. with my camera ( panasonic lumix ) it happens to me as well that the sky is getting too bright ( white ). but nevermind
