Photographer’s Note

When a child is born in march here in Norway, we wrap them up in wool from the skin to the outside. This lad is eight months today, approaching his second winter. Every day he see the dark coming closer, and the weather outside growing more harsh. Many people tell me "it must be though living up there in Norway", but I'm happy. As everything else here in life, our seasons reflects pretty much the life of a human being; sometimes we feel depressed, other times happy. The bad feelings might sneak up slowly without us even knowing it, but when they leave we shake off everything and feels born again. Like this lad?!

Wonderful portrait, the white cast is marvelous and very significant here - I guess you used a large aperture to get this soft effect.

Hey Terje, what a lovely portrait, soft and tender, with a beautiful light, in a peaceful atmosphere. I was him well on his journey through all the Norwegian seasons ahead of him. Light and dark, happiness and sadness, I hope he'll find a lot of light in his life. In his parents cottage for instance, strolling around with his grandfather ;-)
