Troms has a highly uneven and jagged coastline overlooking the Norwegian Sea. However, the large mountainous islands along the coast provide an excellent sheltered waterway.
Troms is a very mountainous region. The most important mountains are Lyngsalpene, with multiple small glaciers and the highest mountain in the county, Jiekkevarre (1833 meters). Several glaciers Also Kvænangen, part of Øksfjordjøkelen which is the last glacier which were detached icebergs (the phenomenon ended in 1900).
