Photographer’s Note

Nature Special Edition - is it not? :-) Such a breathtaking view it was! You had to have the nerves to cross the bridge over this brutal waterfall that broke almost under your feet and fell down deep in the valley. The Rago National Park IS the most essential place if you want to see true Scandinavian nature at its best!

As for this photo: I know the lighting conditions are not perfect and the sky could be improved. Unfortunately it was quite a difficult situation when I was there. Either the valley was too dark or the sky too bright. HDR could perhaps help a little, but on that instable bridge it was not possible to use a tripod. I am not even sure if my ND grad filter would have helped, because then the top of these mountains would have been too dark. About 15 minutes before reaching this point I was still far from the waterfall but then the Sun made the colours a slightly more lively, the only problem was that I could not catch the moment because I was struggling with two wasted knees, and I had been struggling for days (this hiking was also 23 kilometres). In fact, I was glad and lucky it was not raining!
Anyway, I am not making excuses ;-), but it is not easy to take a very good shot from this point-of-view. I'd be delighted to see a similar shot from anybody who's been here in different lighting conditions.
If you want to visit this national park, be prepared to get rain instead of beautiful colours in the sky :-(. But hey, at least the Norwegians have a stunning landscape here in return! :-)

Take a look at some other photos of mine about Rago in my gallery and thanks for viewing this one!
