Photographer’s Note

The most exciting thing about traveling that far up north is to experience the midnightsun. In this period it is almost beginning. This night we went to Hovden (Vesterålen) to experience this phenomenon. It was a very beautiful one. On our way back to our cabin in Ringstad we took a shortcut. The road we took was Hovden-Nykvåg-Rise and then to the right on the 820 to Straume. The first road (a gravelroad) to the left is a shortcut to Ringstad.

This picture was taken somewhere in the middle of this road. This is a part of Langvatnet. The light here was amazing. This was one of the many moments here that I couldn't stop shooting;-)

Nice drawing formed by the mountain and its reflection. I liekd this shade of orange. Nice picture.

Hello Klara,
very nice and smooth cclours with the typical great low light qualitiy of Canon EOS. Your note is a real invitation to travel far north. At what time of the night did you take this shot?

Ja dat is echt wel een spiegel. Heerlijke kleur in de lucht en dat geeft een zalige sfeer af. Prachtige weerspiegeling van de bergen en bomen. Knap gedaan!

Hoi Klara,

Iso 500 en dan nog 1/800 sec....betekent dat de iso dus flink lager had gekund?
Foto is heel zacht aan de scherpte, maar omdat het onderwerp dit absoluut kan verdragen stoort dit mij niet. Dit soort spiegelingen zijn zeldzaam bij ons, daarom ook juist de kik als je dit dan meemaakt in het buitenland.
Ook ik zou gek worden als ik dit zag, dus jou voor gek verklaren zal ik dan ook niet doen ;-)

Hi Klara,
Beautiful sunset color, I love the fact that you allow more sky in the water reflection, it allow us to feel the open space and vastness of the sky. The image in the reflection actually has a softer and smoother feel with I like, like an impressionistic paintings. Compositionally water and land is divided a little bit too much in the center, but the more sky in the negative space of the sky in the water make it less obvius. So I think it turn out very well for you. I love it.

Hello Klara,

Amazing colours and the calm waters add mystery to the scene!
It seems like a fish just secured the evening meal as judged by the circles in the water...
A balanced composition, if any I possibly miss some foreground element..?
