Photographer’s Note

Kasteel Duivenvoorde (Castle Duivenvoorde) is in the town of Voorschoten, Zuid-Holland in the Netherlands. It was first mentioned in 1226, making it one of the older castles in Zuid-Holland

The castle is remarkable in that it was never sold; it was inherited by several different noble houses, sometimes through the matrilineal line, something that can be said of very few Dutch castles. For the first five centuries of its history, the castle was owned by one and the same family, namely the Van Duivenvoordes, who gave their name - at that time, van Duvenvoirde - to the castle. Though the castle was named thus, the van Duvenvoirdes properly formed part of the House of Wassenaer, an ancient noble family that has played an important role in Dutch history. Toward the end of the 17th century an owner of Kasteel Duivenvoorde, Johan, retook the name of van Wassenaar, upon which the House of Duivenvoorde became merely another name in the castle’s history.

Sometimes you have a day when you made a lot of good photo's, well that day at tghe castle was such a day. I made a lot of good photo's. This is another of them. I hope you like it to.

No doubt at all, this is a beautiful landscape photo. The green diagonal is very well placed in the strong composition and the autumnal colours are superb. Well done. My apologies for not being able to smile today!!!

The grey overcast sky helps to bring out the lovely autumn colours to great effect; even more so than a bright blue one I would say. I like the point of view looking down the river whose reflections enhance the scene even more.

It's great when the weather conditions are in your favour like here. There is something very appealing about a dark sky and sunshine. You know I love reflections and these are stunning. The colours are gorgeous and once more you have made effective use of the perspective of the river.

This is a great shot with wonderful light and color. The canal leads the eye into the shot nicely giving the scene nice direction. The reflection adds nice depth and balance to the scene. The great light and color looks fine against the dark clouds in the background.

Like in every other post of yours, the play with the suggested lines and the light is gorgeous, producing a great sense of depth and a very powerful graphic arrangement despite the non-existence of any geometric shape or straight line.
