Photographer’s Note
Haarlem Reflections
The last weeks, I really had no idea what photo I should post next, but today, when I was browsing through my photos, I found this one and decided to upload it (but had no inspiration for a more original title ;-)).
The photo was taken a couple of weeks ago on a sunny autumn day in the old city centre of my hometown Haarlem. There wasn't any wind, so the reflections in the water of this canal called de Bakenessergracht were great and I just had to take some photos. Apart from the houses along the canal you can also see a small part of the church tower of de Bakenesserkerk in the background too.
I hope you like this photo and thanks for your visit! :-)

Olá Lars, nice to see another post from you :) This is a wonderful architectural shot made out of a reflection. It seems that only the real boats were placed up side down ;-) The result is great because I feel like I'm inside the river, under the water and observing this street scene through the water. Excellent façade details, especially on top right.

Hoi, Lars.
Fulvio.

Excellent shot Lars, and good idea to rotate 180º. If this had been nature, rather than architecture the distortion wouldn't have given the game away so easily. Excellent detail anad high quality.

Hi Lars,
Wow! What a fantastic reflection. One of the best I ever seen. I fully understand that you have turned it upside town. The reflection looks almost real, only more beautiful. Very well spotted. TFS and have a nice evening!

Bonsoir, cher Lars,

Hey Lars,
Nothing to say but great execution. It doesn`t always work out that way. One can hardly believe it`s a reflection, because of the quality. Too bad that the cars were there - they just don`t fit in for me.
Best regards.

Hi Lars,
Very nice reflections! If the cars weren't there it would be even better I think...more romantic, but even like that it looks quite cool!

Bonjour Lars,

Hi Lars
Good light and colors on this clear distortion. The smooth water surface allowed this clarity and reversing it is a good idea.

Hello Lars,
It is more beautiful than reality. That resembles a photograph which would have been ruffled and handing-over flat. Colors and light are very pleasant. Congratulations.

Dag Lars,
Bedankt.
Groeten,
John.

Hi Lars, This is a super reflection, if it was not for the slight ripple it would have been hard to see it was a reflection, as the light, colours & detail are all magnificent, beautifully photographed, kind regards Wilson.

Hei Lars,
This is totally amazing, rare to a reflection of this quality!
The colours are better than real, and the sharpness in details is unbelievable...
The small artifacts caused by minor ripples are only an artistic plus..!

Hi Lars,
It's a scene very well observed and marvellously captured. The clarity produced by the Autumn sun makes those charming façades stand out and the slight, almost unnoticeable undulation produces a wonderful surreal appearance. It's curious how the church tower looks like a crown over the roof. Quite surprisingly, the cars don't bother me much.
Regards, José.

Good evening Lars your opportunism with found the point of view ideal is disconcerting, just like this image which does not leave indifferent, much purity emanates from this image, the reflection of the buildings and of the tower of Bakenesserkerk which emerges, are almost more beautiful qu `it will not actually be it, it was certainly to exist various other POV to present of Bakenessergracht and its access, but framing functions well, the originality is appreciable, and that is seen with the image, sincerely ..................Bonsoir Lars

Hello Lars:
To be honest, I think it is a great idea and a great sense of observation on your part.
The reflections are spectacular, and despite being set on water, did not damage the essence and the realism of what you teach.
Fine shades, and perfect management of lighting, all within a perfect frame.

Hi Lars,
what impresses me most it how you managed the light and how clear and dense with colours these reflections are. If there were no boats one could easily think that it is just looking at a little distorted image of Haarlem street.
Technically flawless with superb details and overall presentation.
My best,
Jeri

Hallo Lars,

One of the most beautiful reflection shots I have ever seen, the "trick" of reverse reflection works perfectly well here, one of the most beautiful and creative architecture photos! Excellent framing and composition, brilliant colours, beautiful "soft distrotions"! Congratulations!

Really nice one, Lars, typically Dutch houses and typically Dutch light shining through the slightly distorted reflections. A 17C view, was it not for the cars and boats... ;)

Hallo, Lars. Prachtig licht!
Ik wens je een goede nacht,
Philippe

Bonjour Lars
Because of the good luminosity and the calm water the reflections are very clear and I like the visual effect provided by the slight distortion.
Colors are superb!
