Photographer’s Note

One of my favourite spots is the cornerblock of the Prinsengracht and the Brouwersgracht where you can see different styles of gables, You can also see the little tower of the Noorderkerk and ofcourse a bridge and some boats in the canal, Amsterdam at its best.

Hello Gerrit,
A beautiful rendering of a fall day. The light is good and I like the way the colour orange repeats itself in the picture; orange briks on the bulidings, the orange boat in the foreground and the fallen orange leaves in the canal. Good composition and balance.

Hi Gerrit,
What an amazing array of different angles on the buildings, some seem to lean in, others lean out, some lean to the side, quite incredible. Lovely colours here, helped by the soft light. Your composition shows so many interesting details and the POV across the canal is perfect.

Wonderful framing with so many details to find out, Gerrit. We can even see the caracteristic tilted facades leaning a bit to the street as if they were hanging to each other not to fall down. It's always nice to see some human elements moving around even if they are far away. Lovely creative shot showing a lot of the charm in Amsterdam.

At its best, those are the correct word for this portrait of Amsterdam! The time of the day, with this golden light hitting every single element of the image, was pretty well chosen! In addition to that, we have a very good balance of light and shadow, which enhances the details of building and boats! The composition is very good, with the inclusion of all the elements necessary to gives us the hints of where we really are (bikes included!)! Sharpness and textures are also very good! I really like this one too!

This is a great shot showing the way these buildings all lean in different directions. Your composition is great including the canal and boats in the foreground with the buildings in the rear. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail.

Superb warm light, painting the varied gables in a delightful way. I remember standing in this place admiring during one of my visits to your city. I also could not help but notice at the distortion/tilts of the houses...almost as if opening out like a book. Good work!
