Photographer’s Note
[even in the winter the beach is a great place to be....]
Walk on the beach hand in hand and hoping that the whole world sees, that we belong together... together trought the wind, you and me against the world...

'See The Pyramids
Along the Nile
Watch the sun rise
On a tropic isle
Just remember darling
All the while
You belong to me...
See the market place
In old Algiers
Send me photographs
And souvenirs
Just remember
'Til your dream appears
You belong to me....
Fly the ocean
In a silver plane
See the jungle
When its wet with rains
Just remember
Till you're home again
Or until I come home to you
You belong to me..."

Interesting thought provoking crop here, taking the shot as much into 'artwork' as 'daily life', IMO. Good song association, which leaves this open to a range of interpretations. Very good work here.

Jorrit, you´re the only one I know who is able to make art out of a dull image. and in b&w!!!

Wow Jorrit,
this is breath-taking, I love it!
I'm agree with Richard, this is an artwork too, it's so evocative with the footprints in foreground that recall the couple in background...the light is perfect and the crop....my favourite!

Note that the tracks in the foreground are single! A very strong composition, minimalism indeed! I like the low key here and the tracks and textures are superb. Very well done Jorrit!!!

you and your old lady again walking on the sand Jorrit...
;D
very few details here but a good shot...I see the track of the person who walked there and seems strange...an alien?

A very strong image. The footsteps in the sand are great, and the beheaded people in the distance are great for atmosphere. Cheers man!

Beautiful use of light to draw the eye up through the image Jorrit, that quality overcomes the horizontal breaks provided by the footprints and harder straight line and nicely integrates the whole.

Some reflections about this shot :
Do you know Larry Towell of Magnum? he's for me the guy who invented headcropping in photography : 10 years ago I had never seen that until I looked at his shots. With one of my friends we even used to call the fact of framing bodies without the head "doing a larry".
Nowadays if you don't crop a head, you're a looser, specially if you're into hardcore skate photography (I talked with a guy in a french forum, all of his shots had people heads cut, he said his life was dedicated to hardcore skate photography... wow, what a life :)...).
What amazed me with Larry Towell is that he had the right head crop, he really mastered the thing, he had a grammar of cropping. A quite simple but efficient message : the people you see in the foreground are not important, they're here to populate the picture -as context only we should say-, like a tree, a cloud, a bunch of grass or a rocky heap, then keep your attention on another layer of the pic.
What have we got here? the silhouetted people are attracting our reading like bugs on a lamp and I suppose that's what you expected from us. You wanted to create an original use of the space : well done, but why then cut the heads, it's senseless IMHO! It's like taking back something you wanted to give us!
This is to say I don't like you using gimmicks or tricks without a meaning behind... or get into hardcore skate photo ;-)...

hi Jorrit, I am looking at this picture again and I have the same thoughts again about it... i must agree with Luko here - cropping heads here doesn't work for me at all in this picture. those people are main characters of this image, so it is like making a portrait without a head. and also those people are so small here, because of the huge empty space the picture is somehow incomplete without those heads.. original idea, but.... you did just a bit too much here ;)

I do approve that you try out new borders and refuses to conservatif sitting back to watch how others fall on their mouth. Even when you push here al estetics to the limits questionning itself, you search in a creative way for new borders with a inventivity and courage not everyone's capacity.
Comparing then to some standards that in the beginning were no standard at all I deplore as restriction in your search for a clear statement upto new standards.
This photo is not yet strong enough to be remarked as remarkable but it strong enough to indicate your way leaving conservatisme far behind. Your spontanous view is far above breaking or respecting rules. Please go on.

Actually I don't give a sh* about your photograph...well that's not completely true, this is an interesting minimalistic shot. But the real reason I'm coming here to leave you a word is because I've just seen your blond curles in your intro page! What a great photograph! Who would have said that behind that cherubin face was hiding a devilish soul like yours??

one of my favourite songs. Don't have much to say about this phoho..it's great, but not for this track....as they must of had some hidden intentions, i suggest Nine inch nails -- Closer. Hehe.

I like the image, I see a relation between the two at the top and the foot steps at the bottom, think that the textures are great as is the choice for BW. If I may suggest something is to crop at the top just to leave legs but to get rid off the line at the top, as well as some crop on the right.
