Photographer’s Note
When the old king had a daughter first and then a son it was decided to kill the daughter because a prophecy had once declared that if a woman should rule then the world would fall down........but the men sent to kill the child took the boy in his swaddling by mistake and the girl survived. She was brought up by her mother to fool the world that she was a man and when it was her turn to rule she was a true king, dealing justice, protecting the land and overseeing the prosperous development of the people.
.......but it came to pass one day that the role of this enterprising woman was revealed as the king danced with the people and gradually in the heat and fury of the dance shed his/her clothes..........and the people were amazed to find their king was a woman and that despite the dire warnings of old men a woman in such a role had not led to the demise of the kingdom but rather the opposite............it was there before their eyes - they had never had it so good.
This is a very condensed story which is part of an overall story tool kit utilised by development workers in Kenya to address the role of and respect for women in the country....and part of a touring show in Holland.
Crossroad Productions based in Utrecht in the Netherlands train many storytellers and performers in this work and here we see a performance by one of the leaders of the company - a hot drummer, entertaining storyteller and dancer with the academic and development background to take the art of storytelling to a new reach......a pleasure to meet him, talk with him and see his work.

Hello Kev,
One of the best portraits, and photos I've seen on Trekearth recently. The quality is flawless from conception to implementation. The colors and resolution are razor sharp!
Warm regards,

Hi Kev,
I could say the same thing as George: where are you? We are missing your creativity and your pictures are becoming less frequent!
Come on, show us what you can do with your 5D.
One picture, once in a while isn't enough for my appetite... Can you come to our meeting in Lille? It would be an immense pleasure for me having a chance meeting you :o)
Cheers

Hi Kev,
What a great story. Love the part on the development workers and then added to it '...and part of a touring show in Holland' :-).
Great open space to the right. Though the colour uniformity makes it a bit bleak in a sense. It's a wonderful photo, but the passion of the story.... I don't know. Since it is a good side portrait.
Greetings,
Dennis
