Photographer’s Note

Today I went for a walk at the Oisterwijkse bossen en vennen (English: Oisterwijkse forest and fens). It's located south of Oisterwijk, a little town near Tilburg in the dutch provence Noord-Brabant.
It was a nice day, and I took this at one of the many fens that are in the area.

From the internet:

The fens where formed thousands of years ago when strong storms swept across the Oisterwijk region, which was in that time made out of sand. The storms created low-lying plains which where then filled with rain (the rain could not get away through the ground).

The woodlands are mainly composed with conifers. They were planted there artificially several decades ago and are now slowly vanishing. By doing so, they make way for new trees, such as the oak, the birch, and the beech.
