Photographer’s Note

The village of Windwardside and its pretty cottages, white walls and red roofs, it is one of the 4 agglomerations of the small island of Saba (13 km2). Houses located at the foot of the volcano, the Scenery Mount whose top is lost in the clouds, it rises at 887 meters and amusing fact, it is the climax of the Netherlands... because Saba is an Dutch island located in the Dutch West Indies.

C'est assez original effectivement d'y voir le point culminant des pays bas ;O))
Ces villages avec ces couleurs rouges et blanches sur fond de végétation dense ont vraiment beaucoup de charme.

Encore une fois, ce qui marque c'est ces toits rouges dans une décor de forêt tropicale qui font l'image.

I dont't know what is, but all your fine picture from the Antilles looks much more as they where from a temperated zon and not tropical, they have a certain coolness. but pretty and from winter scandinavian POV I wouldn't mind being there.

Bonjour Jean,

Une belle image du village de Windwardside où les maisons sont décorées d'un toit rouge avec le volcan en arrière-plan. La prise de vue donne de la profondeur à la photo. elle est claire et précise. Elle reçoit une bonne luminosité ce qui fait ressortir les couleurs. Bonne journée.

Belle photo de ce superbe petit village aux toits rouges, espérons seulement que ce volcan oublie longtemps de voir rouge.
Jolies couleurs et bonne netteté ( je sais que j' écris souvent ces mots ci, mais ce n' est pas un copier coller, je les écrit chaque fois que je le pense d' une de vos photos car ce sont deux choses que j' aime particulièrement en photo).
Il est vrais que au début, lorsque je voyais" Pays bas",je me disais que tu te trompais, puis en réfléchissant je me suis dit que cela était sans doute des colonies de ce pays, he maintenant j' en ai la confirmation, c' est fou ce que l' on apprend grâce a vous sur TE.

Salut Jean,
C'est fort joli ces petits toits rouges contre le vert sombre de la vegetation et les hautes lumieres des facades blanches, ca a l'air tres cosy. Par contre Saba n'est pas une commune de Hollande, region des Pays-Bas situee bien loin d'ici, en fait deux regions, Noord-Holland et Zuid-Holland.

Salut Jean,
Indeed a charming village, the architecture looks like a pretty mix of Caribbean and Holland. The POV is quite advantageous, the houses make a nice arrangement with the imposing mountain involved in the cloud. I don't know if was a matter of pure luck or if you wait for it, but having shot on the exact moment at which only the village was under the sun results in a beautiful effect.

Quand on connaît la "planéité" de la Hollande en général, on est surpris. Cette végétaton verdoyante et ces toits rouges font vraiment bon ménage. J'aime bien le petit bout de sommet dans les nuages. Joli coup d'oeil, merci Jean.

Hello Jean,
Interesting story this one, don't know about the volcano activity but surely it wouldn't be a place I would like to be if the volcano wakes up.
Besides this, the view and contrasts created by the town and the hills covered by vegetation is well seen and indeed very attractive.
The top of the volcano covered by fog creates a misterious atmosphere which I always like.
