I have taken this picture half an hour ago from my balcony at the backside of my house.
I awoke at a 2.30 AM, because someone in another house turned the volume up very high with the beautiful music of Mozart's Requiem, 'Quam olim Abrahae' to be exact.
It was quite a weird situation, and actually very strange AND very beautiful. That loud, beautiful music sounding in the peacefullness of the night.
Maybe that person was very drunk and/or very sad. Or just had a quarrel or something. or just felt like it, and forgot that it was that late.
But after that I could not sleep anymore, and decided to take this picture of the Erasmus bridge, to which I had been looking, while listening.
I just applied Unsharp Mask, and decided not to crop the other balconies and houses away. I hope the person if he/she needed it, has found comfort in that lonely hour of the night, listening to Mozart at the full volume for 5 minutes, before it was turned down. The whole situtation left me in a very peaceful mood, somehow, which fits this picture perfectly, IMO.

very meaningful note, Rinie, and very moody image.
when i lived in Rio de Janeiro, in the late 80´s, i had a neighbor that used to play a sax. you made me return to that period, so hard in my life.
beautiful image. the wires look like chords of a monumental harp.
i´m going to bed and i´ll have this peaceful image and the music in the air.
good night :)

This image of the bridge reminds me of a stringed musical instrument Rinie, and thus ties in nicely with your note. At first I couldn't work out why I like the shot, but I think it has to do with lines and mood. I can imagine how strange it must have been to wake to Mozart at full volume at that hour - I'd have loved it.

Perfect Rinie. The note, this image, this moment that captured you as your captured this... creativity at its best. I agree with Isabel, this appears to be a great harp in the sky, no doubt playing Mozart's Requiem, surely some of the most beautiful music ever composed. And the image is perfect as well. Big applause coming from California will still be there when you awaken.

Blessed you to have such neighbor.
Mine is squizoprenic I guess, and has attacks every early morning, around 2 or 3 pm.
He screams and hits the doors.
Nice pic, it seems rally like an harp.

Goeie morgen Rinie.
Fijne buren heb jij, die je zo vroeg wakker maken midden in de week.
Maar je heb er wel een schitterende foto aan overgehouden (is ook wel iets waard).
Het heeft iets misterieus om de Zwaan in zo'n rode gloed te zien.

Very beautiful success. In the choice of the tonality and composition make an atmosphere magic and alleviating . This is almost abstract. I cannot prevent myself from seeing thanks to the reading of the note, a giant toothing-stone in the sky.
I like it much

Very good photograph Rinie. Hopefully you are now sleeping with your D70 against your pillow and soon we'll be able to see the photographs you will be taking of your....dreams.
Now, I'm happy that neighbour of yours chose Mozart to wake you up (it could be worse). You come up with a very moody result, and woonderful tones. I like it.

A heart warming moment in life Rinie... Here you are, awaken in the middle of the night by loud music, and of all the tunes that can be played aloud at 2AM your neighbor chooses Motzart's requiem... Probably a musician or just a guy looking for peace of mind... Glad to hear you woke up in good spirit, and was even concerned about the neighbor... A nice moody capture - simple yet captivating. After reading your note the bridge looks like a huge monument to me with an arm reaching at the sky... Isabelle's harp metphore is also a beautiful interpretation. Thanks for sharing.

Sorry to hear about the disturbance, very nice mysterious shot here, I like it very much, very nice lighting and the bridge is in an odd angle, very well taken

Great posting, Rinie. A very beautiful shot, with magical silhouettes, colors and night light. The bridge cables are reminiscent of a harp, which makes a fine linkage to the "musical" theme of your wonderful note. Mozart's requiem also is a linkage to my mother's birthtown (Salzburg) and to one of my favorite movies (Amadeus), so I do get a lot out of this one, thanks!

So you see that it is not always bad to have to get up at night. You would have missed this one. It's very artistic and I like the colours. Had to look twice to figure out what it was, but that's what I like about pictures.

Nicely elementary capture Rinie with a very strong graphic content. It's very atmospheric and captures De Zwaan with a unusual angle.....and indeed evokes string like associations. I like your story of nocturnal urban sollitude and comfort very much too....it matches this elegant composition really very well. Great job.

Both the story & image are fascinating, you're a very entertaining person Rinie! ;o)
I made a WS for my own pleasure, not to make it better as yours is perfect as it is now...

I saw this picture already last night, but then I was already run out of pnts.
Great view! The colours and light are fantastic. Wonderful picture, I really like this bridge! Thanx for sharing!

Ha ha, I missed that, but thought you must have put it there at some point. Very different view without the flood lights.
