Hi Els. Great shot of these fascinating birds. I had the privilege to swim in the waters off Dominican Republic while they were diving for fish. Not so relaxed then......! Anyway, the tight crop and pin-shapr focus make this almost 3-D. Excellent and TFS. Paul.

A difficult shot in what looks like harsh light and you have lost a little detail in the bright region but a very good portrait. That yellow colour is really attractive. Thanks.

I understand what you mean about zoos there are some good ones and some not so good ones. I don't like the ones that just have animals for intertainment. I like your photo, the close up shot really makes me look at his eyes and his appartant looking at you wondering what your doing..:o) The oolor is very nice and I like the crop. TFS

Deze pelikaan ziet er inderdaad erg relaxed uit, zo dobberend op het water. Mooi gefotografeerd ook, met goeie kleuren en details. Pelikanen hebben van zichzedlf al zo' n apart uiterlijk, en deze staat er goed op!

Hi,
I'm very fond of pelicans and am admiring your image. If I may make a technical comment: one of the problems here is that the paleness of the feathers is "blown out" in most areas. I believe thats the right term. This is the curse of digital cameras: pale colours are often too pale and the detail here of the feathers is lost. If the paleness is not too extreme, going into PhotoShop and using the dodge and burn tool can correct this, at least partly. Otherwise I think there is no cure - the colours simply haven't been captured.
Go to Trek Nature and look for pelicans - there are some wonderful shots there.
