Photographer’s Note
A big wheel in evening light with a lot of shadows of the low sun. The shadows seem to amplify the complexity of the construction of the wheel. I like the evening light in combination with the strong colors of the truck in the front.
In my town the town council has a policy that says that they should not use the yearly fair as a cash cow but it should bring joy to the people of Best (the name of the town). As a result of this, prices are maximized by the town council and a minimum of cost is asked from the people presenting their attractions at the fair. It is said this fair has the lowest proces in The Netherlands. A lot of people from Best and other towns in the neighbourhood visit this fair.
I dit a little postprocessing in a trial version of C1 PRO.

This is very nice. Your capture of the curve here is well balanced and interesting. Nice exposure, too, which seems difficult given the bright daylight. I'm not sure the object at bottom is necessary to the photo, but it does add lots of interesting color.

It isn't easy to appreciate the scale of this wheel, so the challenges of capturing it can be underestimated. You did well. As a person who loves working closely with unusual designs, this image would be a delight to play with. The structure of the wheel is fascinating. I think I would have looked for a point of view that wasn't obstructed, as this one is, but perhaps this is the best you could find. Keep playing with the Digital Rebel and with post processing Jan. This is all very promising.

Hi Jan
I think if this were my photo I would have taken it a little differently - omitting the bottom 'bar' of fairground colour and cropping in a little from the left to the first full car - this puts more of a focus on the guy with his arm out of the car(?) as a point of interest. I wonder what this would look like as a contrasty B&W too.
