[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
For my last post before I take my flight for a period of holidays, I wanted to share with you this picture of a Eurasian Oystercatcher that I had the chance to observe along the shoreline between the sea side resorts of Kijkduin and Scheveningen.
One of the positive aspects of the very bad weather of this first part of summer in the Netherlands is that the beaches are more or less desert (I exagerate a bit, but...) and that one can walk quietly for long times and see a lot of birds which are usually not present in this period.
On the Sunday I took this picture, the weaher was very windy, a bit rainy and the temperature was 16-17°C. A lot of seaguls and black crows were searching for food along the beach, and locally, a lot these oystercatchers were present, diging the sand with their red beaks to capture some shellfishes...

Avant de prendre mon vol pour quelques vacances (Il y'a de fortes chances que mes prochaines contributions portent sur mon cher Languedoc natal), je voulais poster cette image d'un huitrier pie que j'ai eu la chance d'observer le long de la côte, entre les stations balneaires de Kijkduin et de Scheveningen.
Un des aspects positifs de ce début d'été pourri, le long des côtes de la mer du Nord, est que les plages sont désertées et que l'on peut y marcher pendant de longs moments et y voir des oiseaux qui n'y sont habituellement pas en cette période.
Le dimanche ou j'ai pris cette photo, les lieux étaient surtout occupés par des goelands argentés et des corbeaux qui cherchaient leur pitance. Quelques groupes d'huitriers étaient eux aussi présents, fouillant le sable avec leur bec rouge pour essayer de capturer de petits mollusques...

Hello Loic. The flying bird is a definite contrast to the white seagulls on the water. The action is well composed here and only the flying birsd is in focus. Good emphasis on the main subject and good use of light and soft colours. Lovely shot. Thanks :-)

We get quite a lot of oystercatchers on out local beach too and I have often tried to stalk them. A very successful, well-timed shot with him flying low over the waves. His position in the frame is perfect on the top right third leaving him lots of space to fly into. Well done

Hi Loic,
Beautful photo from the Netherlands coast. I like the colours and the light on the waves. I like the contrast between the sharper bird and the blurry background. I maybe would wish that more birds were a bit sharper - although this actually also works very nicely.

c'est une image très dynamique et très bien réalisée.
Tu as parfaitement capté cet oiseau en volant, dans un contraste avec les mouettes les plus statiques sur la plage. L'effet de mouvement du vol est très obtenu.

Seagulls are busy to find thier food looking into water, a difference species bird flying above seagulls, harmonious natural world at this water habitat, good composition.

Belle capture en plein vol,je trés leger "filé" valorise bien ton volatil en le rendant plus net,bon placement dans le cadre.
Bonne vacances dans le sud...fais des photos des vignobles...si tu restes assez tard en Aout tu pourras même commencer les vendanges ;-) l'année est assez precose,

Hi Loic,
With the red bill and the black and white feathers the "Scholekster" is and interesting bird in the landscape of Holland. Nowadays they can be seen even in the cities eating worms instead of oysters.

Content de vous revoir tous après cette absence. Une photo qui me replonge un peu dans mes vacances au bord de l'eau... J'aime bien le contraste flou/netteté sur la photo qui fait bien ressortir l'huitrier pie. Jolie prise Loïc.

Une autre jolie photo de bord de mer! Beau contraste entre cet huitrier pie en vol bien net, et les goelands en recherche de nourriture, plus flou.
Quant au ressac des vagues, il est toujours du plus bel effet!
