Photographer’s Note
In the Netherlands, it seems, there is nothing that can't be carried on a bicycle. OK, maybe not a piano, but pretty much anything else...

A bassycle! I like your composition. Interesting blur and mood.

Panning as the cyclist crossed the bridge was a great idea Ken, and the fact that he's carrying that huge cello on his back makes it all the more interesting.
It hasn't quite worked though - I think that the cyclist needed to be sharper for the image to be a success. These kinds of shots are always very hit and miss, so well done for giving it a go.
Cheers,
Ben

A great Image Kris, and a nice idea to set him in a blurred context.I am not sure that ht e images of the cyclist, himself is sharp enough to hold the whole thing together. However, he is perfectly placed an the blurred bridge form a good composition. Regards Kevin

A total pan sharp immage could give also an unnatural feel while here the soft movement blur keeps him still related to the very strong blurred background , so I am not convinced that it should be that totally sharp to become sensational pushing away the unified mood. Pleasant that big bass on his back in this rainy mood scene of Holland Ken.

Nice panning shot! I've always wanted to try this, but for some reason I never think about it when I'm shooting. I like the image of the man carrying the huge instrument on his back, and the blur of the panning effect really isolates him well and makes us see him more clearly. A great piece of work!

You have entered the Clairedelune's territory, and if you are not perfect, than…Oh, Misere Moi !!!
Don't worry, Ken…
Good stuff…
Not as good as her, but than…
Who is able to match Claire's stuff in this category…?
At least you've tried…
Me…?
I'd be scared to death !!!!!!!!!!!

superb capture once again, full of dynamism, speed. The composition is perfect and the blur just a pleasure for my eyes.
Thanks

Hi Ken,
He could also float down the canal on the bass as well .. wonderful slice of life that is yet also a "there is something you don't see everyday" .. striking for the uniqueness. .. well seen .. a tough shot .. nice job.
take care,
John

You seem to have been in a bicycle panning mood on your trip to the Netherlands, Ken. Technically this one is not quite as good as the one I critiqued the other day (the man in the rain) because your subject here is not so sharp, but I like the overall composition of this one better. The man on the bike is perfectly placed in the frame, I like all the curves, and the completely blurred bicycle going in the other direction enhances the sensation of speed (that one seems to be flying!) Cheers . . . David
