This picture was taken from within the air traffic control tower of Rotterdam Airport. We're looking north which gives us a view of the 2260 meter long 06-24 runway.
On April 25th 1967 the construction of the tower began. Its highest point of 45m was reached in 1968 and the official opening was on April 28th 1970 by Mr Joop Bakker (Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management).
Just a few days ago, on October 1st 2006, the airport celebrated its 50th anniversary. At the same time an entire new logo, which can be seen on their new website, was revealed. Rotterdam Airport is Europe's best regional airport.

Repost: removed fish-eye effect, cropped the top and bottom off and slightly more color and contrast.

This is a most unusual shot and one that I appreciate from an informational point of view. Your final version is a great improvement over the original (which I must admit I had not seen -- too little time for pictures for another 3 weeks :(). I love the colours and your dof is very well-handled. TFS

Great postprocessing and good note, but how did you get the permission to enter the tower?
