A small history of tattoos
The word tattoo is said to has two major derivations- from the polynesian word ‘ta’ which means striking something and the tahitian word ‘tatau’ which means ‘to marksomething’.
The history of tattoo began over 5000 years ago and is as diverse as the people who wear them.
Tattoos are created by inserting colored materials beneath the skins surface. the first tattoos probably were created by accident. Someone had a small wound, and rubbed it with a hand that was dirty with soot and ashes from the fire. Once the wound had healed, they saw that a mark stayed permanently.
Despite the social sciences' growing fascination with tattooing, and the immense popularity of tattoos themselves, the practice has not left much of a historical record.

Nice and original picture Bala, so well seen and captured, tilt fits really well on it, compliments!!
have a nice day,
Fabio.
I must be really honest with you Bala, I have been checking in from time to time and I haven't really seen anything inspiring in your recent uploads for a while...
You see, I look towards the "more experienced" photographers for inspiration...and I found your earlier photos and ideas unique, well processed, basically...quite brilliant! I hope this is a temporary phase for you as your standards seem to have slipped a little...I like this idea, but I think you could have presented it in a much better way...perhaps even just a simple b/w conversion would give you more impact??
sorry bala...I thought you would appreciate my honesty.
excellent note though...
critique edited someone has just pointed out that my critique was harsh...ok, I pretty much enjoy a no-bullshi* attitude (i worked in the funeral trade for 3 years), so I am sorry for assuming you may appreciate the same.
regards, kaj
Good note, legitimate the posting of this Line detail.
Hi Bala,
Very interesting and unusual picture, joining simplicity and a number of small details together. It really works well here. Nice note too. Congratulations.
Naherty
you know, Bala, tatoos for me are a celebration.
because of our meeting and because it was also my first trip to Europe (a life long dream) I made a tatoo in Amsterdan. The image can be seen here
Line´s tatoos are impressive ;)
Hi bala! I missed this one, looks like the kind of tatoo someone would get in South America with some friends all started by a drunken idea at night in the rainforrest ;o) Coto, by the way means howler monkey in Quichua.
Thanks
Line
