Photographer’s Note

I can't leave Rotterdam without a picture of a building. The whole place was flattened at the beginning of World War II, and waht emerged since is huge experimental architecural workshop. Practically every building has some feature of interest, and one could regard walking around the city as a visit to a huge open aire gallary.

It was the texture that attracted me to this one, so maybe the added grains detract a bit, but on balance I prefer it this way.

Hi Richard, there's a very nice glow on the building as if it's wet outside. The row of windows of the parking area give a great depth to the picture. The crop is excellent.

Hi Richard, A striking architectural capture with good diagonal PoV, using the facade and the building volumes to good advantage. Considering the texture of this building the grains are probably interfering with the rendition of it, but this a personal. I like this one a lot - it's very good archi-graphism with a fine note to boot.

Wow,

well the tonality is awesome! I love all the little textures on the wall. An excellent use of lines. Its one of the more interesting architectural shots.

B&W is the medium to present graphics, certainly of achitecural forms seen in pespective, indeed what a buildings here at Rotterdam, certainly a must to give a total impression of the city, you went hard contrasting on your rendering but sure better to give the feel of all the texturing.

The post-work including the choice for b&w makes it look quite impressive, Richard - the textural richness is very good and I also like the subtle "glowing" effect of the sunlight on the windows. Also a good study in perspective and converging lines, adding to the overall graphical impact.

Beautidully judged and rendered with just the erfect BW tones, Richard. You show a real flair and understanding for architecture and, I guess, you found what you were looking fr in Rotterdam...

No, I don't find the grains disturbing I actually think they make the texture even more clear. I'm glad you kept the lamp post in the frame it somehow helps with scale and proves just how large this wall is. This is very much what Rotterdam was for me, what you have in your note, and open air gallery.
