Interesting perception. Just looking at this picture without reading your note I had rather the impression of an exit. The reason why I felt like this is probably because it goes from dark to bright and the left part of the gate is turned outside (or inside, it is a question of perception).
It is quite challenging to balance the exposure with pics like this one. You almost got it right!
