History

Around 1850 became the dunes digged away for the water extraction. For this the dune area was still considered as ` savage ground. The dunes were used for the cultivation, hunting and stopped the sea. Furthermore people did not stop themselves in the dune area. In the course of the years the insight, which nature conservation more has been neatly maintained than only it of the water winning areas, came. Nature conservation secures the sources of water extraction. There an interaction between water extraction and nature conservation exists. water extraction has ensured that the from Amsterdam water control dunes are preserved have remained. Thanks to the water extraction other rededications in the area could be turned away, for example the construction of a way. In 1990, it was fixed that water control company Amsterdam has the nature conservation as a second core function, beside the first core function water extraction.
