Photographer’s Note

Autumn (often referred to as Fall in North America) is one of the four temperate seasons, the transition from summer into winter.
In the temperate zones, autumn is the season during which most crops are harvested, and deciduous trees lose their leaves. It is also the season in which the days rapidly get shorter and cooler (especially in the northern latitudes), and of gradually increasing precipitation in some parts of the world.
Astronomically, it begins with the autumnal equinox (around September 23 in the Northern hemisphere, and March 21 in the southern hemisphere), and ends with the winter solstice (around December 21 in the Northern hemisphere and June 21 in the Southern hemisphere). However, meteorologists count the entire months of March, April and May in the Southern hemisphere, and September, October and November in the Northern hemisphere as autumn. An exception to these definitions is found in the Irish Calendar which still follows the Celtic cycle, where autumn is counted as the whole months of August, September and October.
All though the days begin to shorten in July or August in the northern latitudes and in January and February in the south, it is usually in September or March where twilight becomes evidently shorter and more abrupt in comparison with the more lingering ones of summer.
Autumn is often defined as the start of the school year in most countries, since they usually begin in early September or early March (depending on the latitude).
Either definition, as with those of the seasons generally, is flawed because it assumes that the seasons are all of the same length, and begin and end at the same time throughout the temperate zone of each hemisphere.

Yes the leafs are falling, the season is ending. I made this shot one year ago and I hope you like it.

eenvoudige foto met een zeer goed resultaat. Zeer mooi gevarieerd kleurenspel van herfstkleurige bladeren, ook weer te vinden in de weerspiegeling.De iets mistige achtergrond laten de herfstkleuren nog beter uit komen.Ik vind hem echt goed.

Hoi Jaap,
Het kleine bos zorgt voor een schitterend weerspiegeling in het water, inderdaad de herfst kleuren zijn reeds talrijk aanwezig, (morgen plaats ik een herfst beeld) het zou opnieuw een schilderij kunnen zijn. Het is zacht en lekker beeld om eens rustig naar te kijken en te genieten. Goed werk Jaap!

Oh, my dear Jaap, what a shot! Is this still a photo? It's more a painting -- very creative, with excellent colours and idea. It's interesting that the colours refelcted in the water are more saturated than original.

I remember the April shot for this place. Here again and with a starting autumnal situation there is still the mass and its reblection. Perfect. The green colors up and down and the coulured shapes in the reflection are great.

Beautiful shot with the very clear reflections. These trees seem unusually close together for deciduous trees. Well captured.
We have strong winds in the UK at the moment, so I hope that doesn't mean the autumn leaves will drop off the trees too quickly this year, before I have lots of photos.

A simple composition Jaap, which serves the subject very well.An island of autumn colored trees right to the waterline,creating symmetrical work of reflection.A bit sharp obvious among the leaves and branches of the trees in the middle though Jaap.

Original shot ! Nice reflections too . Perhaps a bit too well centered but nothing annoying.

Useful note. The autumn season here is relatively short. We already had our first snow flurries yesterday . And we are not living in the mountains.... but in the Saint-lawrence valley.
