Photographer's Note

Impression of 'Sail 05'in Amsterdam,early in the morning under a grey sky. You can admire a lot of tall sailing ships. In 5 days more than 2.000.000 visitors do, on the quais en on the water. Here they're still asleep.
To give you an impression: the ship on the right side of the shot has a length of 55 meters.
Framed, cropped and improved in PSP.

Hi Huub,
this is very impressive, looking just a little bit mystic because of the dark sky.
I there not were the big buildings I could think, it's from earlier times - perhaps next time when I look at this photo I can see a pirate-flag?
I like it, would be a nice motive for a painting in oil. Tot ziens

Beautiful view on port with many old sails.There are a little less colours becouse bad weather,but its good shot.

Oh, leuke foto. Deze heeft een heel andere uitstraling dan de meeste foto's van Sail die ik tot nu toe heb gezien. Erg mooie zachte uitstraling. De foto heeft een wat dromerige sfeer. Mooi dat het rechter schip net wat schuiner staat dan de andere. Dat geeft wat dynamiek.

Heel mooi sfeerbeeld van Sail met heel zacht licht. Indrukwekkende hoeveelheid masten en een mooie compo waar misschien rechts nog iets af kon. De contrasten zijn door het weer wat zacht dus heb ik in een WS er even iets mee geprobeerd.

Très esthétique tout ces bateaux avec leurs mats ! jolie prise, malgrès un temps couvert, mais qui se prête bien à l'ambiance !

I like the composition of this picture, giving a real feeling of the quantity of boats and masts present, and the low light gives a very interesting atmosphere. I like it a lot.
Where were you when you shot this picture? On a boat? I was aboard La Cancalaise, who was just behind La Recouvrance (on the far left in your picture), so you were probably quite close to me!

We had A TE meeting that same day with Pierrot, Rinie and Fred (Rockyboy) and spend some time on Le Bel Espoir (second from the left on you picture), too bad you didn't join us!

Hello Huuub, I remembered this arrival. I was on the second ship black with white line and circle windows back, on left. it is a pity you missed a TE trek with Rinie Hoff, Rockyboy, SophieL and I.

I like smoggy atmosphère of your shot and the contrast with the bassin empty of boats, not like in the evening. I would like more sharpened (netteté)

Hola Huub,

Very nice photograph and very good POV. I like the misty and grey atmosphere wich make me think of the past. It's like those years when the sea was full of pirates !
