Photographer’s Note
As part of the celebrations marking Nijmegen's 2000-year existence, a local artist arranged this event. 2000 chairs were placed onto the sandy bank of the river Waal, across from the centre of the city. The hot weather ensured that plenty of people crossed the bridge to sit there and enjoy the view.

It's a real nice shot and a great observation Steve.
I like to see that kind of artistics or even humouristic events that can bring a smile in our daily life...
I just regret that you did not tryed a closer/tighter framing. I'll send a WS of my own vision on it.

Steve -
Without your comments I am not sure the images' message would have gotten across. I am surprised that it took a local artist to do this since there does not seem to be any order or message in the arrangement of the chairs. I think your choice of image capture though could have been better; i.e. more people in the chairs and at a later time of the day so that the light is not so harsh. I am not sure which way the chairs are facing but a capture at sunset with people enjoying the last rays of the day would have been an excellent capture.
Thanks for sharing.

A striking composition. Let me suggest a crop: if you cut the group of people at the extreme right by a crop along the right margin, a bit on the left and also the grass at the bottom you will see that despite so may interfering objects attention will immediately go to that one bare back in the top middle of the photo.
