Delft-Canal along the town known for it's "Delft-Blue" art, that resemble to the Portugal's "Azulejos" in some way. (We know about Portugees influence in Holland from the early 17th century).
A scanned photo from 4/1980, also visited in one of it's workshop of the above mentioned "Blue".
Delft on map: 52.0125, 4.368
*** I do not know the exact location, as the whole canal front area was renovated since. Anyone on TE know & can give precise location ?

I would have liked more time in Holland. Just 2 days in Amsterdam. The strong diagonals of the dual canal sides add good dynamism and lead in lines here as well as good diminishing linear perspective. I may have added a little yellow to adjust the color temperature a little warmer. The barge makes a good focal point. Tfs!

The length of the canal is giving depth to the composition. You have captured well the movement of the cargo ship. The point of view is showing the details and colours of the buildings and of the ship. The cloudy sky is giving a good contrast to the colours. Have a nice day.

You're capturing well this canal by a good angle and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the canal with sufficient width and a row of old building with two storied along the canal. It's surprised thay the big ship like the cargo is cruising ths canal.

Good quality for a scanned image, and the framing is excellent to show the canal and the architecture surrounding it! Very good job!

This is a precious photo from 1980. I think I can spot a Renault 4, a Renault 5 and a Simca across the canal. Thanks for reaching into your vaults.

Hi Ike ,
Nice shot of the canal in Delft. Good POV looking down the canal towards the barge which adds great depth to the shot. Considering the age of the photo and it being a scanned image it has not lost much of its sharpness.

Wow! That's a huge ship to be traveling in a canal! This must be a deep one. Nicely captured with good lighting and nice details. Well done, tfs.

My first thought was, "Strange, why is the water purple...was it been dyed for an event?" Didn't take long to realize the age of this photo, which explains a lot of the color. :) As you well know, I enjoy these archived film pictures, and the technical details take nothing away from a nostalgic look back. I really like this composition, you did a great job understanding what works best for this minimal setting, using the length and stretch of buildings to your advantage to cover the frame from side to side. The boat placement is also a key function here, and it's placement is perfectly distanced so as to include motion and interest, but not to be too close and obtrusive. A very pleasing arrangement that smoothly converges from left to right. A great look along the canal. Have a nice weekend. Take care.

a very effective and interesting description of the canal and the scene with the large ship moving along it. You have adjusted your composition to the scene in an exquisite way, perspective and depth are great. I love the texture of the water and the moody colours. Again, the cars betray the time of the capture and the age of the photo. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely afternoon,

I was reading your note before writing, truly I believed to be a photo of your actual trip (dark one) but it has more than 30 years
It will be interesting to return at the same place to note the changes
Anyway a good composition and a very good scanned work
Congrats for ..keeping old photos

I like the excellent view to the water channel. The arrangement with the large ship sailing along the row of small houses.
It must be interesting to leave near such water channel, but I'm asking myself whether the ships are not too noisy, especially during night.
Thanks for posting.

Hello Ike, this is a precious archive from the 80's you save, a big ship is navigating on a canal
The quality is good with fine colors and it's sharp
Yes I understand it's forbidden in Israel for security purpose and I know also, during many decades, people were not allowed to visit some countries
All the best, have a nice day

How instructive and stunning is this view of a commercial carrier gaining ground in mid-town, instead of in mid-ocean; so stunning that one of the building stretched its neck over the others to make shure it is not making a dream!

excellent framing and sense of opportunity getting the image of the huge boat crossing the narrow canal. these façades are very nice too. good image despite the time.
