Last week I spent three days in a business trip to Amsterdam. Unfortunately, my schedule was too busy to see many places however I've found 2 hours to walk around the central railway station. Cloudy Amsterdam looks fantastic! Hope you like my short series from this magical city:)

Yes, good for you to at least take a couple of hours out of yr day to explore. Was this yr first time in Amsterdam? Love the photo of the crooked homes, its more realistic this way.
The subdued colors and reflections are very sweet.
Enjoy yr day

un angolo della città molto bello, ripreso con la tua solita bravura.
I palazzi sono magnifici ed il loro riflesso è molto particolare, sembra formato da strisce.
Bravo, come sempre.

Ciao e buon fine settimana

This has to be one of my favourite cities and this is one of my favourite pictures from there. You have captured the crooked tall houses very well. The stormy sky and the light on the houses are perfect. I very much enjoy the elongated reflections.
Very well done.
Kind Regards, Ann

now i am freaked out, because last night i was postprocessing a VERY similar photo i had made in bruges, to upload it today! well, it can wait for a while :) i love those chocolate houses, each with unique features though they seem similiar to the non-attentive eyes. i was also in amsterdam for business purposes, yet i enjoyed every possible aspect of it, leaving too little time for photography :)

Good morning Gosia,
The low-light conditions did not deficient the beauty of this charming town houses.
Yet, managed to show a row of facades reflected on the canal's, and some of those houses actually tilted .
How typical, but exquisite beauty.
Nice collected the view upon.
Enjoy a nice weekend,

chyba jedno z najbardziej uroczych miast na naszym kontynencie.Wyjatkowo polozone i z tak piekna architektura.Kolejny raz bardzo podoba mi sie sposob w jaki poddalas zdjecie obrobce.Wyglada jakbys uzyla jakiegos filtra, ktory wplywajac na kolorystyke zdjecia tworzy wyjatkowa atmosfere tej sceny.
Piekna i bardzo nastrojowa kompozycja!
Pozdrawiam serdecznie i zycze milego weekendu

You've presented well the beautiful old architecture at the Damrak.
Unfortunately the weather was quite dark and looking at the water I see that there was also a fair amount of wind. A few weeks ago I spent several days in Amsterdam. Most of the time the weather was real bad. Even with about 48 hours of non stop rain. Almost all of my pictures look dark and show a very dull sky. Then one evening, the sun broke through the clouds and the light was magnificent. Then the reflections in the canals became really beautiful. But I only had about two hours to run back to the different points of interest to re shoot my pics very quckly. Impossible to get everywhere again in such a limited time.
I do have a bright view of the Damrak with the same buildings that you show here and with quite clear reflections. I will post it another time.
Your spare time in Amsterdam was too short. You will have to go back once. I'm sure you as a photographer will enjoy lots of beautiful and picturesque corners in the city as well as the traditional and the modern architecture.
Have a nice weekend, Paul

Witaj dear Gosia
This is a stunning photo, worthy of being hung or in a magazine. I love the vertical frame, the purplish caste, the symmetry of the reflections. The architectural details have been obtained superbly. Thanks for sharing, have a lovely weekend.

On dirait dans ce magnifique cadrage que les maisons se tiennent comme un château de carte. Si on en enlève une elles vont toutes s'écraser. J'aime cette luminosité toute spéciale.
yquem46 (38378) 2013-06-15 6:58
good choice of the vertical frame for this shot with high visual impact
Of course good use of the reflections
Best regards, have a nice WE

This is such a cool city, and you have captured the essence of its unique architecture so very well here! Some of those buildings look almost as if they are melting into each other, but each has a unique and wonderful design. Such a bonus to have them with this reflection too.
All the best

I have to applaud you for creating this fine photograph, despite the lack of good light. The buildings, huddling together for warmth, are sharply exposed and, though their reflections are disturbed by the ripples, still make a most attractive addition.
The colour palette reminds me of dark chocolate ... another reason for loving it!!
My warm regards,
Urs (14082) 2013-06-15 19:30
This is a beautiful double image e.g. the reflection doubles the house row which looks like fresh from the bakery. It was not a very bright day, but the colour hues are vivid and the sharpness is high. Well done
adidas5nb (4364) 2013-06-15 19:46

Even in the clouds, this one is bright and happy, Gosia. These houses have such great character and personality, like a bunch of little kids lining up to give a show, so quirky and proud of themselves. Beautifully presented!
i9l2y1m8a8t3 (4768) 2013-07-08 9:22
It seemed that there has been a different treatment especially in this, compared to your other images. I liked the dark mood in this, complements the crooked lines and buildings. Nice reflections and composition too! Great shot!
