Photographer’s Note
This is another picture from Rotterdam after the Erasmusbrug. This city has a lot of high office buildings and is therefore called "Manhattan aan de Maas" ("Manhattan-upon-Meuse", de Maas (Meuse) is the river through Rotterdam).
The reason for all those modern buildings and skyscrapers in Rotterdam is quite sad. On May 14, 1940 the centre was bombed by the nazi's, so it had to be rebuilt after the war completely.
On this picture you can see is the tallest office building in the Netherlands, which is called the "Delftse Poort". A large Dutch insurance company, Nationale Nederlanden owns it. The largest tower which you can see here is 151 meter high and has 41 floors, the other one, you can see a part of it on the left is 93 meter high. The building is situated next to Rotterdam Central Station, was designed by Abe Bonnema and was completed in 1992.
I cropped this picture a bit and sharpened it.
Hope you like it!

Nice picture Lars.
I have lived 1,5 year in Rotterdam, but I am still impressed by "Dutch New York".
The colours are nice, and the shiny metallike building in the front is great.
The composition with the Delftse Poort between those other buildings is also fine.

Lars,
Jag gillar dina nya skyskrapebilder. Det blir fina vinklar och perspektiv - dessutom är det fräscht och enhetligt. Den rena himlen förstärker intrycket.
Jag vill att du har med en fönsterputsare på nästa bild. :D

Deze is GOED Lars!! One of the most -if not the most- impressive building in NL. One of the highest aswell. Great POV, great sharpness. You've done really well. I like this picture a lot.

Great lower to upper perspective of this modern but interesting building. Contrast, colors and clear photo. You managed well the light and it's a difficult shot, because you could fall in the ground... :)) Congratulations, and is quality photo of a modern building, that I also like! Other sceneries of not so nice houses, street or humain stress towns I don't like. One smiley to you and see my nest cow.!

Hi Lars, again a very good and very well defined archi-shot. It's interesting how you used the perspective distortion as a compository device to frame the 'Bonnema-toren'. Very well seen & done!

Lars, this is a well lit and nicely framed shot of this modern building. The converging parallels and the buildings to either side give an excellent impression of height.

Lars, bonsoir.

Bravo

Hej Lars,
After a disaster the need for reconstruction allways give a good development of the place.
Downtowns full of skycrappers allways attracted me very much and the first time I went to Manhatten I really got excited, with the quantity and variety.
The skyscrappers can give us wonderful dramatic and artistic shots from down up angles, which I love and this one is very well suceeded. In spite of not beeing so original, I like the composition and the way I feel so little closer this impressive set of perfect straight 'boxes' of steel and glass. The blue colour of the sky is perfect to stand out the shapes of the buildings and I like the framing with the dark one on the right. TFS,
Hilsner,
Ricardo

Very good framing and a nice silvery aspect, but I still prefer the older buildings...
All the best,

An american style and mood, for sure !! It's well done, with the buildings on the border, providing some depth... Good sunny light too.
