Photographer’s Note

This is Amsterdam Central Station with on the foreground het Stationsplein, a square which is characterized by four things: bicycles, busses, trams and loads of people (every day 250.000 people visit this square). It took this picture from the Prins Hendrik Kade.

Apart from the Station, the white building on the left is Tourist Information Office of Amsterdam and the building behind it is a hotel.

The Central Station is the biggest and best-known Railway Station in the Netherlands. It was built on an isle (Stationseiland). The station was built between 1881 and 1889 and was designed by P.J.H. Cuypers (also the man behind the Rijksmuseum). It was built on 8,687 wooden piles.

About the picture: I cropped it a bit and increased the colours a bit. I also removed a tramcable on the foreground.
Hope you like it!
