Photographer’s Note

Boxtel is a small town, but its big church shows that it was an important place once. Just outside the town you'll find a park in which lies this castle, Kasteel Stapelen. The entire complex was given a new look in early neo-Gothic style in 1857-1858, to fit the then popular ideas about what a medieval castle should look like. Towers were heightened, the facade of the chapel was renewed and countless battlements were added to places where there never had been any. Since 1915 the castle has been used as a monastery. In the Middle Ages a miracle occurred here which is still celebrated each year with a big procession.

Yes another one of this for me very nice castle Stapelen.
It's not spectacular but even, I like it a lot to take a shot from this old composition of mine again in an other season and with another camera. I hope you like it.

Fantastic reflections. The castle is very well framed by the trees, so I guess you found the perfect place for this shot. The trees to the left still remind us of summer, but autumn is creeping into the verdure.

A great composition here, it is a beautiful castle indeed, and it is logical that you like.
The asymmetric framing with the tree in foreground and the magnificent reflections on the water have a strong aesthetic effect, and create a fantastic image, with a great light and a few good colors.

Hi Jaap, superb light management here with a reflection like glass. The light on the trees to the left is magical. I see you're using your 17-40L on the 5DII with this photo. I know you're a big fan of the 10-22mm on the 30D (which is also my other camera and wide-angle lens) so I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the difference. Hi Jaap,
what a nice one, the light is perfectly balanced and these fall colors are jsut too lovely. The spot where the sun illuminates the trees is just perfect for the whole image and he reflections of the castle are so ncie and clear. I beleive it was a difficult light situation, but the exposure is nicely managed, great job!
By the way, I see you also got yourself the 5D Mark II, great decission! I´m really looking forward to all these great shots you are going to deliver with this camera!
