Photographer’s Note

Amsterdam est pourvu de quelque 400 canaux qui lui ont fort justement valu son surnom de « Venise du Nord ». Le réseau est si étendu qu'il est possible de découvrir et de visiter la capitale néerlandaise au fil de l'eau, en péniche ou en bateau-mouche, moyens de déplacement qui représentent une alternative originale aux transports en communs classiques.

Hi Christiane,
Very well captured.
Shows lots of details from daily life. Great depth and the greenish tone gives it a good effect. I like the position of the cycle in the composition.

Hi Christiane

Well composed, with excellent linear perspective & vanishing point provided by the receding canal. I would add equal amounts of blue & magenta to remove the slight yellow green color cast. Try 5% at first & then 10%, if it still doesn't look quite right. The fg bicycle makes a good focal point. Tfs, et amicalement! Bon weekend!

beautiful creation using the magic light. Light from background made the water of this canal just glowing. Nice compo here, we can see vehicle of water and road both. A nice greenish yellow tone everywhere made it marvellous. Congratulation and Tfs.

Quelle belle prise! Ces canaux sont uniques, avec les ponts et les arbres embellissent les marges. Excellente composition, avec le vélo au premier plan. J'aime bien la teinte verdâtre de l'image, je crois que c'était volontaire, pour produire un effet spécial.

My first thought was that there was a green cast to the image, but I see that has been taken care of in the WS. The composition is very good. The lines of the canal are perfect for leading the eye into the frame, and I love the bike in the foreground, adding to the typical Amsterdam charm.

Après le port de Jacques Brel, les canaux de Christianne :)
J'aime bien le rendu presque photo ancienne de ton cliché.
Une lumière plus forte en arrière plan par rapport a l'avant plan, qui ne devait pas être facile a maitriser.

AMSTERDAM a toujours de ce cachet avec ces canaux originaux, jolie présentation et composition avec le vélo en avant-plant, le WS de Bartleby a corrigé l'horizon .. jolie lumière et contraste et les couleurs sont magnifiques...

Hi Christiane,

Fascinating warm dimmed light in this picture.
Almost all typical elements of Amsterdam are present: The canal with the trees on the quay, the sightseeing boat, the car parked and of course a bicycle. Only an elephant is missing :- )

Hi Cristiane,
excellent view of a charming canal in my city.(we call Venice the Amsterdam of the South) The light is great and I must warn everyone who wants to stall a bike like this on an Amsterdam street or canal that the bike won't stand there very long if you use such a thin locking cable.

A classical view for Asterdam canals with the byke in fg and the bateau-mouche at 1/3 of the photogram. But you choose a green hue which gives to the photo a surreal aspect. It's a photo full of a dreamy atmosphere. Original, well composed and highly evocative.

tout d'abord merci pour ton commentaire, j'apprécie beaucoup.
J'ai choisi cette photo pour l'atmosphère qui s'en dégage. La dominante verte lui confère un effet rétro, un peu comme si la photo était oxydée, ou avait subi l'effet du temps. Le vélo au premier est un choix judicieux, tout comme le cadrage. L'aspect est avant tout linéaire mais les courbes et les angles apportent un petit plus, un certain mouvement.
Très belle composition.
