Strange Reflections

“Great art deserves great reflections”

Sculpture flottante (1960-1961), , Kröller-Müller Museum – Otterlo
Marta Pan, born June 12 1923, Budapest, Hungary.

Sculpture Flottante – Otterlo (1960-1961) a floating sculpture made out of glasfiber reinforced polyester resin from the collection of the Kröller-Müller Museum.

She also designed the pond, the lawns, the path and the open places of the world famous sculpture park of the Kröller-Müller Museum.

Marta Pan is known throughout the world for her floating sculptures. Her geometrically pure works, which are closely related to concrete thinking, are characterized by great contemplative intensity.
For Marta Pan, sculpture is a meeting place between architecture and the environment, between sky, water, earth, and humans. The basis of her work is constituted by balance, form and proportion, volume and space.
Marta Pan has made a great many monumental sculptures. She has also created the layout of natural and urban sites around the world, particularly in Japan.
