Photographer’s Note

On the way back from Lithuania we stopped off to see a friend here, a surprisingly pleasant commuter town for Amsterdam. A comfortable town centre, and with attractive walks along the canals around town. The thing that struck me about this place, and probably the Netherlands in general, is that people seemed to take their saturday afternoon recreation in groups, these rowers, for instance, not competing just rowing of fun (or practice, that may be a support boat behind). We also passsed groups of joggers and cyclist. In the UK similar activities would take place in this kind of area, but people would be more likely to do it individually or in family groups.

Funny , when I looked at those guys on the thumbnail, i thought it was in england.
A nice view of a lovely canal. I guess you cropped it but the rsult is good. Just what we need to see. I would like to see it framed..

It is a nice picture, but a bit grainy. Certainly the large version. The boat to the right is a Pedro Trawler.

today seems to be a floating boat day... you, claude, avishek... interesting photo, in spite of a slight overexposure of the whites IMO.... a taste of nostalgia from the Cambridge /oxford competition?? huh! ;-)LOL I am sure the guy on the right is going to pass them pretty soon;-)) a cheater with a motor boat...?

Good documentation of the kanal life in Holland Richard. The details works well as the kanal have a nice diagonal setting in the compo.

Your perspective gives the impression of a dynamic picture. It appears as a competition between canoe boat handled by man and the motorized boat. A nice shot.

The panoramic mode is very successful here Richard...Colors are nice but the sharpness seems that suffers a bit;-) The 2 points are for the composition...

nice shot, I like the title too, I hope you didnt yell STROKE whilst taking the shot, it would be funny to see their reactions
