Photographer's Note

A seawall and wind turbines on Veere lake in Zeeland. Since May, 2004 salt water coming from the Oriental Escault river can penetrate in the lake, what increases the salinity, and a tide about 25 cm occurs. Veerse Meer is one of the rare places in the Netherlands where the crab of Zuiderzee, the worm trumpet, and the fish (Electra crustulenta) reproduce. The lake is appreciated by the sailors, the fishermen, the divers and water skiing amateurs. Approximately 3500 pleasure boats can drop anchor here. 13 islands formed by sandbanks are now nature reserves, or places of leisure activities, where it is pleasant to stay.
