This is the southern pier of the entrance to the port of Scheveningen, near The Hague; Netherlands. Ships from the northsea come here to bring in their goods. See the link at the bottom for the exact location.
I come here once or twice a month for over a decade or so. In that time, this place has never changed. I like it here because its quiet: the waves and the wind make more noise than the people. The walk from the shore to the lighthouse is about 10 min. Its a good place to be lonely and to slow down for a while. I just sit on the dock of the bay, watch the fisherman and blend in. I've never taken anyone with me to this place. Its mine.
Last week the newspaper reported that they want to build skyscrapers and stores and restaurants here. If that happens, it will be the end to my visits. No more slowing down. No more loneliness.
Edit: I went a little overboard with the PP, see the workshop for the original.

I don't think there is too much post-processing here. The colors are saturated, but not over-saturated at all. Comparing to the your original, this one has much better looking contrast.
One think that would be good to correct is horizon tilt. It's clearly really visible here.

The PP is fine in this shot, I'm sure you brought the colors and lighting back up to what you saw when you took the photo. The composition and sharpness are great, it is almost like I am standing on the jetty.

Gilbert, Nice shot, the colors are soft and muted yet the detail is crisp, and the activity, both the fishing and the strolloing are well shown. I don't know that this is exactly the spot but as a child my parents brought me to a beach at Scheveningen to see a beached freighter, probably 1952.

what a place...what colors!
great capture and composition.
I liked the reflexes of the water, maybe of a previous rain or from the waves on the sea.

A great image and a great note. I think we all have some place we like to call our own....to sit and relax the mind, body and soul. We all need some quite time in our lives, and I really hope they don't take this place away from you. The colours in the sky are superb and I can sense the camness from your image. Well done.

Le travail de PP a permis de redonner de très belles couleurs à l'image. On sent ta nostalgie à la perspective d'enlaidir ce bel endroit par toutes ses constructions touristiques, et on la comprend très bien.

Beautiful sunset, nice composition and colours. The sky is dramatic, and I understand your feeling when you go there. It would be criminal to build skyscrapers ! An association must be founded to defend that beautiful spot!

amazing.... I agree with the others; the way you have preseneted this is very realistic; i don't know what it is but it's good; personally, I don't like the saturated color; but overall, it works so I can't really complain. Impressive------ I've looked at this photo a second time; and still don't know what throws me off; the saturation is fine now that I look at it; but like I said before. it is a striking photo. maybe it's the contrast that gives the people a charcoal feel; hmmm I don't know but it sure is a memorizing photo.
