Photographer's Note
The Cube houses, or pole house, in Rotterdam, are a design of the Dutch architect Piet Blom (1934-1999). The construction of the 38 cube houses started in 1982 and was completed in 1984. Blom thought of his design as an abstract tree and of the total complex as a wood. A cube house reminds of a tree hut that is accessible through the pole
While we were wandering there, I looked up and saw the houses formed a star. A gray day, and my flash wasn't enough of course...

Really unique point of view...A very unusual photo which proves the sharp eye of the photographer...The light situation is very difficult indeed maybe by using the spot metering mode and taking a reading from the buildings could be better. It could make the buildings more "lighted" although the sky could be "burned"...Bracketing is a good idea in this kind of situation...

You still got blue in the sky and yellow in the buildings, you did a great job with what you had. Take Aegean's advice or take 2 different pictures exposed for both the sky and the buildings and layer them together in photoshop.

Well, I confess, I missed this one!
You see, you didn't have to see differently. Everything was already right in with you, Viviane!
The star shape is wonderfully expressive and we've got well enough to decypher throught the darkest areas to understand and recompose the buildings outside the frame of this photo...
Great, really great!
And I'm glad too that you left behing such a pompous signature. Why claim who you are when you can simply be yourself... ;-)
Better than never, then...

Viviane, a great capture even if the light was not in your favor.
What I'm looking at is art work at a great effort. A view from a different perspective.
You saw it in your mind, and then you came up with this. Well done!!! I did a worshop for ya, can't get it to upload, nothing on the side to click.

Good shot! I've seen a number of shots of these buildings recently, but this is an unusual and brilliant composition! I only found this one whilst doing a search so I could add all the shots of it to a Theme :)
Unfortunately the sky appears burnt out, whilst the buildings themselves are too dark - not much you can do in situations like this since you're shooting beyond the range the camera can capture, the only option is to take a couple of shots - one exposed for the sky and one for the buildings and (as CAP suggested) merge the two in Photoshop afterwards. The other issue is that the filesize is very low, so there are a lot of JPEG artifacts - I can't really remember now whether we had any choice about that when you posted this one, I know the limits were lower back then...
Anyway a really clever shot, well seen!
P.S. I couldn't resist posting a Workshop for you :)
