Today I have found myself challenged by José Elias because of his picture of this Portuguese windmill, with which he declared war to the Dutch windmill. In my reaction to his picture I already announced that I had a whole ROW of mills, but all I did was hurt his feelings apparently, but he did get afraid. Brave of him, I must say.
So José, here is my army. If you want a war, you can get.
Picturewise, I have to bow my head for José’s picture; his is so beautiful with a clear blue sky, where I had to do with this rotten light.( I did my best with PP).
Besides, I would have never uploaded it, if it weren’t for the challenge.
This is taken at Kinderdijk, a place from which you can find quite a lot of pictures on TE, and even for me, who has seen it quite often, it is still a magical place.
In the workshop area one of my veterans.

I can count 12 windmills here. That is definitely an army Rinie.
From NZ this scene is a masterpiece, and is what I think the Netherlands would be like. We all know of your windmills, so thank you for sharing. Good job!

How funny! There's nothing wrong with a little competitive photography. Western American windmills are boring compared to Dutch and Portugese windmills- you both win. Tiny little arms way up high rattling in the wind- nothing graceful about them.
Thanks for the picture and laugh.

Ahah, you're excellent not only in photography, but as a concerned member of a community, answering promptly to every request, every challenge, in every situation! I want to see Jose's head in this one (between us, that guy is crazy in going out like that crying out to the dutchmen that their windmills can't compare with the portuguese ones... he has a bit of Dom Quijote in him, our friend José Elias, like every portuguese and that's why the country is in such a poor situation!... oups, now I'm looking for trouble! ;o)) ).
Great, of course, I definitely prefer this type of army than the ones with real weapons.

I like your army because looks pacific. Writting from Hiroshima, on the 60th anniversary of the atomic bomb so very peacefull mind inside Miguel. I do like to learn to do this kind of photos so panoramic. I like the light here, Rinie, a little dark but not bothering ... Don Quijote de la Mancha would love this photo too. I will be back in six days. Take care and enjoy peace.

So many windmills. I think both you and Jose need to be challenged by someone from Poland posting images of the many windmills in Wielkopolska region....which by the way was a destination for Dutch settlers centuries ago. I think tyats why there are so many dutch style windmills there. Great photo, really nice DOF and colors.

Ah ah ah Rinie, too funny, I think these beginning series are likely to be very enjoyable and a guaranteed daily laugh :-)
Your army looks indeed impressive and well positionned over the battlefield, quite a multitude, but given the darkness I'm doubting they will be able to aim as far as Portugal, while a single portuguese shot fired in ideal light conditions could damage quite a bit... But I'm not an expert of such war things, could be better to hire Don Quichotte.
Waiting for the next episode...
Take care, Jean-Yves

Hi Rinie, I am glad that José has started the war, or we would have no change to see the army of the windmill picture. This is an impressive picture. I wonder that what kept you for months before you are willingly to show us this picture. I believe that I was on your side once when you have the "sweeping war". Well, I hope you'll win again in this "windmill war"
Should I call you a “warrior” :D

Great panorama Rinie!
Composition works so well, even the weather and the treatning gray of the sky are fitting perfectly this image. Well done!
* I just love the humour in this "Fight with/against Mills", Cervantes certainly knew it would happen again & again... :o)))

Hi Rinie! Well, I really think Jose backed-off after seeing so many windmills willing to take up arms against him... Or is he perhaps making a 'cunning plan' and will strike at an unexpected moment with huge forces? Well, we'll probably notice in short time.
Even though the light conditions were far from optimum, you managed to turn it into a nice picture with the good overview of the Kinderdijk windmills. They really appear to be lining up for battle! Kinderdijk batallion is ready!

I hadn't noticed that your mills did not have sails! OK, so no sails for the war then. Unfortunately there is no mills at all close to where I live... I'll think of something, but can't do anything until tonight as well!
However, your army is impressive. I'm surprised it didn't scare the adversary away!

you guys don't understand nothing.... they are running away from a single blu and white mill... the cow as long runned away from the cock and now all the 12 little mills are running away :P
Still Great photo Rinie, excelente pano dispicting the lack of colour :P (provocation eheh)
I wonder if anyone understand a single word of what's happening if they see this without knowing the "war" thing ehehe

poor poor José :-)
I laughed by reading your exchanges of words and photographs. Your army, Rinie, are very impressive, and psychologically the panoramic format is better :-)
thank's for this photography

Hi Rinie! I want to say you that I saw a biggest and more powerful army in Spain not a long time ago... I think it's better to make make peace...
Anyway, this is a funny idea and i like your picture which although impressive...;)

Look, Bowling pins! Quite nice for a strike…
Oh no, it’s Dutch mills, after all… Well, good enough for a strike too! Just getting my Bowling ball… :o))
Regarding the weather that would be expected to see as also above Mordor, when Sauron wished to conquer the Middle Earth (in Lord of the Rings) there was always a menacing overcast sky… I guess that your world domination projects would produce the same result, no? :o)
Besides this, these great old mills exhibiting their sails against the sky above the horizon, in that exquisite landscape, and an interesting somber atmosphere, doesn’t impress me much… :o))

Hi Rinie,
Although it is not under a great light, the scene impressed me a lot : it is really an army !
The point of view is really well chosen and the panoramic frame is impressive.
Bravo !

Hi Rinie, This really looks like an army indeed and was well worth the panorama. In a war film this would be the tanks division progressing toward fleeing ennemies. The sad grey sky fits the idea perfectly.
