Windmills are spinning still
There are many Windmills - in the last century was the 9 thousand., Today has been even more than 800 Were used to grind grain and other industrial purposes, and above all to pump water from low-lying polders. Rows of windmills pumped water from the bottommost channel to channel one meter above, the next row of windmills pumped meter above water yet, and so on. Today, wind turbines are replaced with systems much more efficient pumps. It's fair to say that every drop of rain - which falls in the Netherlands - it has to be mechanically pumped. Most of the windmills are still inhabited, and many of them are available to the public. The most interesting, made available to the public, are located in the open-air museum in Arnhem, Kinderdijk and Zaanse Schans

Kia ora Monika,
Nicely composed picture with the photographer being the main point of focus. It sets the scene nicely. Cheers, Neil

You have put the focus on the photographer, but the eyes are drawn to the windmills. But they do not seem important, the interest is in the sharp part of the picture. A very pleasant picture.

Hello Monika. Wherever you go also, windmills are always an eye catcher bresonderer. The windmills have inspired painters, and of course, photographers. It is interesting that this old technique was almost forgotten, and was discovered again today (wind energy). You've seen this picture well (composition) and presented appropriately.

Superb use of focus to focus on the photographer, i.e. on the hunter, not the hunted. I also love the white flowers and the role they play here. Thumbs up from me for this one!

The thumbnail does not do justice to this post. Awesome capture of this photographer searching for better angle. I like the mood, nice soft lighing and good dof with nice details. Well done, tfs.

Again a shot which gives me the wish to visit this place. I like a lot this photo subject.
You handled it in a very original way with low deep of field. It would have not be my choice of setting, but I must recognize it is also working.

excellent composition with the three windmills nicely blurred but sharp enough to recognize them as the characteristic silhouettes from this country. Fantastic idea with the photographer in the corner as a foreground.
Real master work!!

I am intrigued by the resolute photographer and surrounding flowers, then diminishing clearness with the impressive windmills shadowed in the river.
And added atmosphere with overcast lighting.
Nicely composed and created,
PS: In the American West we are building thousands of windmills for generating electricity, with California leading the States. They are not classical looking, but very dramatic in their hundreds when seen.

Excellent picture where the main focal point is the photographer & not the windmills, even though we see enough of them. Light seems to be dull here but you captured the mood well. This seems to be a good joint effort!
